Me too. I just kept thinking about all the birth stories while I was laboring and it comforted me to know what I was feeling was normal and exactly how they described it. I think it gave me the strength to go on and have a totally med free birth.

  • Husband Coached Childbirth - it's about the Bradley method, but would be a great read even if you want go to go with another method of delivery.

  • Not gonna lie - i read a ton, and nothing prepared me LOL.

Ina May's book was good, but i found it a bit too earthy for my taste.

This. The birth stories made me really excited for my own experience.

    The Birth Partner for me

This one. So much info and helped prepare me to ask for cervadil instead of pitocin when I first got to the hospital (my water had broken 12 hours earlier without any contractions).

I also loved Birthing from Within. Lots of awesome pain management techniques.

  • I didn't have a completely natural birth, but I came close. Mine was Easing Labor Pain. It gives a fair look at medical pain relief but concentrates on the natural ways. I actually need to get this back from my SIL now. :)

  • It depends what you need.  Ina May's book is full of encouraging stories of women who had natural births.  I prefer lots of information on what to expect and how to handle different things.  I loved the Bradley Method's book.  It's a very detailed and informative guide and one that prepared me ( in my opinion) and my husband for childbirth.  Hope this helps and good luck!
