Hello ladies!

I had a question. I am watching my friends daughter all week from 7am to 5:30. This included food and everything. (besides diapers) Would you do it for $25 a day; $125 a week? I wouldn't mind so much but I have to have someone watch my daughter for an hour 3 days a week so I can take DS to speech and I can't fit 3 car seats in the car.

How much will it cost to have your DD those three days? Will the 25/day make up for it and then some? It really would depend for me how close the friend was, and how easy the kid was to watch. If she was easy going, I would say 125 for the week would be good for a close friend

It would leave me $5 which I have to pick-up and drop-off my babysitter. She is pretty easy but VERY needy. Also I found out today he goes to the gym after work; which I don't have time to go to the gym waiting for him to pick up his daughter. I don't know what to do.

Idk. It sounds like you want more? I was thinking of watching a coworkers four year old from 3:30PM until 2AM when she got off work. He would obviously be asleep, at the latest by ten. So six and a half hours max of awake time. Shes currently paying her teenage babysitter 40 bucks a night to do these hours. I Would do it for less, but not less then 20 a night. And you're watching her for what, four more hours? That's a very long day.

That seems like it's not enough for a whole week and you having to take your DD to a babysitter too. I personally don't think it's enough. I'm going to be watching a little girl for 4-6hrs twice a week (she'll be 4months at the time) and getting $10 an hour. I know this person is your friend but for such a long day and an inconvenience to you, I'd ask for a little more.

I guess it depends on her means and how close you guys are, but to me that's crazy low.  Of course, where I live day care is $2000+/mo., so that impacts my thinking! 

ETA: That's assuming it's a more permanent arrangement.  If it were just one week, and it were a decently good friend, I'd do it for free.

heck if I had to find a sitter for my kid I don't even think I'd do it. That just seems like too much trouble IMO.

To me, that is not enough at all, and if he goes to the gym and leaves her longer, sorry but I think he is using you. You need more than that. Don't set a guideline that this is ok cause thry'll expect the same thing next time.

Thanks ladies. Yeah today was the first day and I only know he went to the gym because one of our friends called and he said it to him on the phone. I also didn't think he was going to drop her off at 6:45 in the morning. He is a pretty good friend but he and his g/f work full-time and I know she makes $26 an hour. So I know they aren't hurting for money. He is just over being a SAHD after getting home from boot camp. I am going to have to tell him I can't. I also go to school full time. I just didn't know if I was thinking about it wrong. He also asked when he called if she picked her up yet seeing she got off work at 3:30! They also live 6 streets away. I also don't have the extra money to pay a babysitter to babysit. Again thanks ladies. Sometimes it helps just to see it all in writing.
