Rec your umbrella stroller

I am looking for a good stroller for traveling.  We will be taking several trips to my IL's lake house and will be flying to FL from Chicago in the fall.  Anyone have a good light weight stroller they like, that's not too expensive, and has a basket underneath as well as a sun shade? Thanks!

Re: Rec your umbrella stroller

  • Anything by Maclaren.  They are lightweight, easy to fold, etc. and have a decent size basket and good sunshade.

I second this.  I have the Triumph.  The sunshade is not huge, but it's better than nothing.  The basket is pretty decent for an umbrella stroller.  It is a bit bigger/taller than the cheaper ones.  I went with this one because the weight limit is 50 pounds.  Most umbrella strollers have a 35 pound limit.  My son, who just turned 2, is 37 pounds, so I'm really glad that I did!

we bought the first years jet lightweight stroller. i have this one because we have a great big stroller and needed one for shopping and vacations; basically, something to leave in the trunk.

it was under $40, has a basket, and the 5 point harness. my kid will climb out if he isn't strapped in. it's also not shrimpy short.

ETA ... also, i needed it to be light, and i can open/close it with one hand for when i am alone. i did buy a sunshade extender because the one it came with is total crap good for nothing. that was an extra $10.

We have this one. We've used it for airline travel, in the city, country, mall etc. I love it!

  • We have a city mini (2011) because we wanted something a little more substantial than the regular umbrella strollers. We don't like the ride per se but it's an upgrade from the standard ones. We like the option to recline and an oversized canopy. I paid $140 for it.
  • I wouldn't define it as cheap ($190ish) but if you're going to look at McClaren, check out the Uppababy G-luxe. Similar to the Triumph but standing fold it DOES have a big sunshade.

My friend has a Chicco from Target. I have a Babys R Us brand one. It has a small Baggie/punch on the back and a sunshade you can move to where you need it. I love it.

We also have the chicco umbrella stroller from Babies R Us. We LOVE it!!!! Very easy to use and made well.
