Brayden Kenneth is finally here!! (kinda long)

Our precious little boy decided to make his entrance into the world on June 15, I was due one June 11 so he was 5 days late.

So, on Thursday June 14, I woke up at 7am having mild contractions that were about 15 minutes apart so I got a little excited thinking maybe it was finally starting.  At about 9am they got to be about 7 minutes apart so I called DH and told him he should keep his phone close at work because they were starting to pick up.  I kept timing them and at 11am they were anywhere from 3-5 minutes apart and getting a more and more painful.  I called my doctor and asked if I could come to the office and get checked before going to triage just to make sure I was actually in labor and he told me to come on in.  So I called DH and he came home and we headed to the hospital.  We had an hour drive to the hospital and on the way there they became 2 minutes apart and staying consistent so we decided to head straight to triage.  We got there about 1pm and they checked me and said I was 3 cm (which is what I was at my 40 week appointment on my due date on Monday).  They monitored me for about 2 hours and the contractions started to slow down and become inconsistent.  At 3:30pm they said I was definitely in labor but they weren?t going to keep me yet since they were starting to become very random.  So since we lived so far away we decided to go grab dinner and see if anything picked up again.  They stayed inconsistent so we decided to go home and see what happened.  At about 6pm they became very painful and were about 3-4 minutes apart.  Finally at 10pm I called triage and asked if they thought we should come back and they said it was worth a try so we decided to.  We got back to triage around 11:30pm and they checked me and said I was now 6 cm and they?d get us checked into a room!!! I was so excited at this point I couldn?t contain myself.  We got into our room around 12:30 and the contractions started to get very painful.  I wanted to do my best not to get an epidural so I did my best with the pain.  They came in at 2 am and checked me and I was still at 6 cm and said they wanted to start pit but I said I wanted to hold off just a little longer and see if I could progress on my own.  At 3 am I couldn?t handle the pain anymore.  I had been in labor for 20 hours at this point and was exhausted.  So at 3:30 am I got the epidural and then around 4:30 am they checked me and I was still 6 cm so they started the pit.  I was able to get about an hour and half of sleep and then at 6 am they checked me again and said I was now 8 cm and they decided to break my water.  They said now it was only a matter of time and he?d be here soon and they?d check me again at 8 am.  At about 7:55am I told DH to get the nurse because I had to push.  She came in and said I was 10 cm and ready to push.  We started pushing at 8:10 am.  At 9 am they said his head was still at -1 and said he really hadn?t moved down much.  I kept pushing and at 10 am they said he was still at -1 and said his head was too big and said I should just go for the C-section.  I was devastated but decided after 2 hours of pushing I couldn?t do it anymore if it was going to result in a C-section anyway.  We got all prepped and they started the C-section around 10:30 am.  At 10:50 am on June 15 my beautiful baby boy, Brayden Kenneth was born, weighing 8 lbs 14 oz and 20 in long!  As DH was over by him and they were sewing me up, I had an asthma attack and the doctor didn?t understand since my vitals were all fine and said he didn?t think I was.  When DH came over with the baby he told the doctor they needed to do something.  They sent him and the baby to recovery and finished up with me and then took me to recovery as well.  The nurse finally got me a nebulizer treatment and I could finally breathe again.  Since all of that happened it was 12:30 pm before I even got to see what my baby looked like!  We got to come home on Monday and it has been the best 6 days of my life so far!  He is an awesome sleeper and eater and has been sleeping anywhere from 3-6 hours at a time at night!  We couldn?t be more blessed and we are so in love!
