Today is my DD's last day at her current preschool/daycare which she loves. I've taken a new job that begins at the end of August (teaching) so we needed to find a new preschool/daycare for her. Any advice on how to make the transition easier for her? I'd like to send her for a couple half days in August to get her used to the new environment before going full time. Any other ideas?
Re: Transitioning to a new preschool
we actually just started a new daycare/preschool this week.
we went about a week ahead of time to do a final tour so the girls could meet their teachers and see their room, etc. etc. I think it was helpful for them (and me)...we really talked it up last week so they knew that they were going to be starting their new school this week.there have still been some tears at drop off and a little bit of sadness here and there during their day (they go ft M-TH)...but their teacher said they are doing great...
I didn't have the choice to send half days...but if I could have done something like that I probably would have done a week with a slightly later drop off and an early pickup time (like right after nap/snack) to make their days a little shorter...transitioning can be exhausting...GL!
I would also start looking ASAP...depending on your area, preschool/daycares can fill fast...we put a deposit down for their 2 spots for these openings back in feb...and some preschool/dcs even then were already filling for sept...
