fetal pole not found

Hi to-be-moms!

I'm new to this community and a first time prego. Really nervous and excited.

Doc said i'm at week 6. Yesterday I had my 1st u/s. first Qs is, does the u/s happen so early? also, he told me that there is a healthy sack and yolk seen. But no fetal pole found. we'll do a follow up next week. I did some reading on the internet and saw that this could be due to a misscarriage.

Please tell me this is not true. I so want this to work out. how much time should i give my baby to show up?

    Your date could be slightly off, or you could just be growing at a slower (but normal) rate, but nobody here can tell you for sure. Hopefully your ultrasound next week will show a fetal pole. My ultrasound at 5w3d was a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole yet.

    Is it possible you ovulated late and you're not as far along as you think? Most people can see the hb around 7 weeks so next week would be a good time to have a follow up and your doc will know more then. Obviously if you have bleeding or cramping before then call your doctor. Try your hardest to not worry and don't give up hope. T&P everything works out!

    start of 6 weeks can be early to see.  But once you hit 7 weeks the heart is starting to work.

    I had a dating ultrasound at what I thought was 6 weeks ( I charted my cycles, so I knew my ovulation date). AllI saw as a sac and yolk, no fetal pole visible. They had me come back 10 days later to check again, and the baby was there, measuring right on track at 7 weeks 2 days with a HB of 140.  Sometimes they just can't see stuff that early, so just hang in there until you are a little further along.

    At 6 weeks there was only a sac and yolk. We went back in for 8 week u/s and had a heartbeat.

    My fetal pole wasn't visible until week 7 via TV ultrasound.  I'm a FTM too and I was freaking out because I was having lots of spotting.

    Just take a breath and relax (some of the moms on here told me that when I was 6 weeks and thank goodness they did!!).

     Just wait a couple of weeks and you will see a LO - he/she is still developing and will be really really tiny for the next couple of weeks.

    I think that possibly your OB gave you a 6 week time based on your LMP (last menstrual period), however like PP said, you could have ovulated a little later skewing the dates.  I wouldn't worry just yet, if possible, and wait to have a better answer next week.  It's also possible that implantation was way high or something & hard to see.  Twins can be hidden for this very reason.  (Twins used as an example, not suggesting that you have twins)

    GL next week though.

    Guess you are right. Must have been some miscalculation... 

    I have my visit to the Ob today. fingers crossed.
