So dish ladies who are "Amazon Moms". I see that they have an offer for 3 month free membership. Looks like afterward it's $80 a year for a membership. Is it worth it? Seems almost like it is with the 20% of and free two day shipping it's already worth it and their prices are pretty low anyway. Was thinking of joining around November, when my shower "stock" runs low. Is this the way to go or are there better deals elsewhere? Thanks!
Re: Amazon Moms...
Having the mom membership is exactly the same as prime. So if you order a pair of shoes, a purse, tools, etc...if it's free shipping with Amazon Prime, you get free shipping.
Not anymore, we got Prime FREE for an entire year using Amazon mom before they took that option away, and it use to be 30% savings. Now unless you are a prime member you no longer get the 15% savings from Amazon Mom. You do however still get the 5% for subscribe and save but not 2 day shipping.
With their free super saver shipping I can sometimes wait 2 weeks to get orders...and that's with me having to spend $25 to get it (often involves me adding something I probably would have waited on). They really seem to favor their Prime members because it can take a few days for something to even ship out of their warehouse. I never know when I'm going to get my diapers.
I really miss my prime, but I can't seem to get my husband on board. I LOVED having stuff here within 1-2 days (2 day shipping was sometimes overnight, depending upon the location of the item). And if I needed it asap, then overnight shipping was only $3.99. Not bad at all, imo. Totally, 100% worth it to me since I use Amazon at least once a week usually.
Also, if you like streaming movies/tv they have a service pretty much identical to Netflix, with the option to also rent other stuff at a discount.
Ooops. I must have read it wrong. I went back and read the FAQ again and it does indeed say that now to keep the extra 15% discount you have to pay for Prime. That really stinks. I have friends who loved the old Amazon Mom and like you had the 30% and free Prime benefits for a year. I guess I'm glad I'm CDing then and not looking for discounts on diapers and wipes. While I love Amazon, I just can't justify $80 a year for shipping and a 20% discount I might use occasionally. For those that plan to use disposables though, it sounds like a great option!
I've had Amazon Prime for a couple of years so I signed up for Amazon Prime back in February. It's totally worth the $80/year! If you're a procrastinator (like me) you can buy gifts last minute and still get the best deal. I imagine once the baby gets here it will be nice to be able to order certain things and have them there in 1-2 days instead of toting the baby around after a long day at work or spending play time at the store.
ETA: I mean I signed up for Amazon Moms back in February.
Yep - this. My discount dropped to 5% after my free year was up and I ponied up the $80 to become a prime member.
OMG this. I have gotten the most random stuff for the kid. Like when I couldn't find his baby nail clippers, nasal aspirator or we needed a new sippy cup. And birthday gifts for kids parties - HUGE. I can barely make it to the grocery store and definitely don't have time to go run all over town for that kind of stuff.
