Teddie for a girl?

What do you think of Teddie for a girl's name?  Not short for anything and not quite sure what a middle name would be yet.  It's actually a family name and I love it but I've had some people tell me that it's too nickname-ish or she wouldn't be taken seriously.  My husband's grandma was named Helen but went by Teddie her whole life and I never heard her say it was a problem.  Thoughts??

Cute nn, but definitely not for a full name. I believe the character Teddy on Grey's Anatomy is really a Theadora, which is really cute.

I think it's silly to slightly ridiculous as a full formal given name. If you don't want to use it as a nn, I would use it as the  middle name.

That's pretty much what I was expecting.   Our next choice was as a middle name...that is IF we have another girl.

I like it. It was on my list for DD, but DH didn't like it. Down the line, we had a Theodora in the family, and thats how I got to Teddie for a girl.

Ah, so much that I could say! My full first name is Teddie, and that is what I have gone by all my life.  I have always loved having an unusual name and it never caused me much trouble until I started working.  I despise having to repeat my name over the phone and having people constantly misunderstand me, therefore calling me "Patty" or "Penny". Besides that, I do like my name and may give a future daughter a middle name of Theodora or Theodosia.

I have a hard time seeing this on a girl and when I do I think of the lingerie.  We call DS Teddy.  I'm iffy on Theodora but I really dislike Teddy on a girl.

Don't like it. people call their nightgowns teddies. too boyish-stuffed animal for my taste
