June 2012 Moms

If its safe to sleep in, my baby wont have it.

My baby will sleep in our bed, on the couch, in my arms, or in a moses basket that isnt designed to be a safe sleeping space.

The PnP is out, as is the bassinet. He HATES them. He seems to like small spaces and I think they are too cold. All he does when he is in them is jostle around and never falls deeply asleep.

I dont want to co-sleep bc he is formula fed and we were planning on rooming-in anyways. Ive been better about laying him down when he sleeps so he can get used to sleeping in something rather than on mama, but night time is so difficult.

 Any ideas?

  • Do you have the Fisher Price Rock N Play? My LO HATES sleeping in her bassinet but sleeps well in the rNP

The Rock n Play is GREAT! LO naps on it and sleeps on her mini crib in our room. So far, she likes it.

At night, she likes to fall asleep in my arms and then we transfer her to the crib.

  • are you swaddling. If they like "small spaces" then swaddling may do the trick to get them to sleep in the bassinet

  • I don't have a good solution for you, but our LO is the same. We sleep on the sofas in the living room and he sleeps on our chests (we take turns). We didn't want to co-sleep either (wanted to room-in w/ the PNP for 6-9mo), but we feel like we have no choice.

  • Have you tried swaddling the baby really tight?  That always worked for DD.

  • I agree with the swaddling.  it's the only way my LO will sleep in a PNP, crib, or bassinet.

I agree with what everyone else said! My miracle swaddling blanket and the RNP have been lifesavers for me!
