How's everything going: pretty status quo
Challenges: Sprout. oy. He's not even being *that* bad...just consistantly annoying enough to wear me down. and the fun thing is that by the time we muddle through this transition, we'll be onto the next as he enters 1st grade
Joys: This morning I woke to the faces of two beautiful little girls. RB was sweetly rubbing my arm and as I opened my eyes Daisy gave the biggest smile and squealed "Hi mama! Up mama!!"
QOTD: Travel, for sure. Its one of the things I love most in life and I hope they do too.

Life is sad yet joyous for me...does that any sense?
My daughter had an ectopic pregnancy (she didn't even know she was pregnant) and it burst. She had emergency surgery on Sunday and ending up losing her left fallopian tube and ovaries. She was released from the hospital late Monday afternoon (thankfully they were able to do laprascopic surgery). She tried to fill her prescription (which should be free through VA) but they don't want to fill it because she had gone to a civilian hospital. Sad thing, she went to VA first and they sent her to the hospital via ambulance because she needed to have surgery ASAP. The lady who can clear things up is on vacation until Thursday! My daughter's words to me, "Don't worry Mom, I am taking ibuprofen and can hold out." Damnit, she shouldn't have to "hold out!"
On the joyous note...C and I found a house we both like!
QOTD: I want to pass on my joy of giving. If they see a little kid who is in need of a toy...it is okay to give it to him/her. I want them to know and feel that happiness is to be shared, not hoarded.
The pregnancy bug has hit! I'm pretty tired all the time and nauseous quite a bit. I'm trying to embrace it as a sign that all is hopefully going well. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next Tuesday and it is so hard to wait to see the baby and confirm that all is well!
QOTD: Easy...I can't wait to read with my kids. Reading together at bedtime was a big part of my childhood and I can't wait to share my favorite stories (and some new ones!) with my children!
I'm so sorry to hear that and hope she is recovering as well as can be expected.

ATP: pretty status quo around here. We are dealing with some annoying behaviors (so Sprout will be in good company this weekend.
) I think they are partly overtired from long days at camp and then they are up with the sun (this morning 5:50am) and refuse to go to sleep till it is dark (nearly 9pm.) We have sun blocking shades in their room, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Boo.
QOTD: Disney.
I LOVE Disney and can't wait to take the kids again (we took them for 1 day when they were 2.5y (and sick.)) So I can't wait to take them now that they can really enjoy it.
Reading. L and I were HUGE readers as kids/teens and hope they adopt this. So far they seem to like to read and LOVE being read to (we do this every night.) Being on the water. I grew up in and around water which I loved. Of course we don't really live in a place where that is a reality now. Volunteering. L and I both did a lot of volunteering pre-kids. We hope to get more involved and get them involved now that they are older.

Cautiously optimistic.
N2A - sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she gets her prescription soon and has a speedy recovery.
TTC - I talked to our fabulous AI program on the phone today. I thought we had to go in for an appointment, but I talked to the health worker on the phone and we worked everything out. C will go for CD3 bloodwork next cycle. They are mailing us the prescription for the sperm shippers so we will be able to ship sperm in July and won't have to miss the cycle if we need to insem while we're at a wedding in CA. And C can build her physical activity up (our old directive was to keep things the same) if she goes slowly, and the heavy lifting restriction is just for 24 hours after insems. All this is a relief, because it allows C to feel less restricted while we are TTC. She used to be very physically active but has been pretty inactive during all the transition of the past few months, so she was really bummed about the "keep things the same" plan.
QOTD: Many things, but I'll go with outdoor activities. Hiking/biking/camping/swimming and generally being around nature.

Challenges: One of our books calls the 6-8 weeks old period "The Two Week Storm." So, that
I am "on" solo from 10p-3a and Jen solos from 4a-9a, and inevitably at least one is up fussing until 1am with me and then they both sleep through her entire shift except for feedings. I feel like I got a bit screwed there, but it's not forever
We're really hoping to get the go-ahead to stop waking them at night for feedings when we go for the 2m appointment, because I do think sometimes that they would sleep for 4-5 hours if we let them.
Joys: Dang, they are so cute. I love giving them baths. They are starting to smile more and will look at themselves (I think) in the plastic mirror we hung over their play mat. I love seeing my parents with them.
QOTD: Travel - we love it and want to take them so many places. Jen's family pretty much spent every vacation at Disney World or skiing and my family didn't vacation at all, and we're both looking forward to taking them different places and showing them new things. Sports - I want them to love sports or working out - I'm sad I didn't come to this until I was 20 or so, and want them to be active early and often and spend lots of time biking, hiking, running and exploring. Geography and history.
Challenges - My patience with everything is gone this week and it's only Wednesday. I am so quick fused and it is so not like me. I am the peacemaker normally. I think it is due to my exhaustion but man I want to snap out of it. Also our first u/s is still more than a week away and I am having problems distracting myself.
Joys - Our families are being very supportive. As this will be the first grand kid on my side and the second on M's we knew they would come around but they have really surprised us by jumping on board immediately. Also M generally text me in the morning telling me to be careful and now she tells us both to be careful. I find it completely adorable. Also we finally settled on a theme for the nursery... books! We aren't buying anything yet but we are on the lookout
.
QOTD - There are three main things... 1.) Kindness 2.) Reading. M and I read more than we do anything else. We love not only our e-readers but the feel of a book. You will not see us without at least one of those things. 3.) Outdoors even if it's just taking a walk outside. I really hope our LO loves camping and hiking and even reading while camping.

Oh look, I didn't even follow my own format!
Joys: C and I are really getting better at talking things out, sharing our feelings, etc. It is so wonderful to get to be part of a couple with her, and to walk this path of deepening our relationship and strengthening our family together. (Sappy, but true)
Challenges: Things have been hard for me personally lately, as I mentioned yesterday. A million tiny stressors and a few big ones have collaborated to make me feel overwhelmed. I've decided I need to keep in front of the overwhelm with relaxation and working out. Can't wait to hit some tennis balls tonight.

Our shower throwers had people gift us their favorite children's book. Best.idea.ever. And we got such sweet notes about them. And, my BFF was in charge of bookends and not even knowing how much I was wanting them she got the Skip Hop Owls. So cool. I kinda sorta just wanted them for me.
Everything has been "normal" around here.
Challenges: Addie's top tooth broke through yesterday and I think the other is right behind, the constant crying is awful.
Ava's behavior is so inconsistent, she is so reserved at home, barely playing/no communication but at the visit with her mom yesterday she was all over the place pointing and laughing and babbling to bio, this wild behavior has only been at the past 3 visits, she was reserved with her before this.
Joys: It's been fun to see all the girls interact now that A is on summer break, they love each other fiercely.
QOTD: I like sharing gardening and cooking with the kids, I can teach them healthy eating habits and they enjoy trying the new foods we grow.
Two Mommies Healing Hearts
We did this too. It was awesome. It is fun to go back and read the inscriptions 6y later and reminisce about the excitement of that day.
TTC:- Third IUI coming up in the next couple of weeks
QOTD:- I think that reading, learning, travelling and making things will be the things we'd want to share.
Glad to hear from you butterfly! You've been quiet for a few days, and I had a dream about your kids last night, that we met and I couldn't keep their names straight with so many A names.
I'm sure Ava's behavior is incredibly confusing/difficult to deal with. Now that she has health insurance, are there trauma therapists who work with such young kiddos? I guess the evaluation should help sort some of this out, but I imagine it will be hard to unravel what's trauma and attachment related and what's developmental. Remember that some of her behavior with you is because your home is the "safe space" where she can act out her feelings and behaviors (which in her case seems to be being withdrawn).
