  • No, I wouldnt mind if i did get pregnant with multiples tho. My doctor had just told me that with Clomid the chances of multiples is 8-10% Which i hadnt known until he told me so im just trying to see how common it really is to get pregnant with multiples on Clomid.

Well everyone who posts on here has multiples, so your responses are going to be different than a general population.  I didn't take clomid but I have heard that your Dr. should monitor you by ultrasound when you take clomid so you know it's working and to avoid high order multiples.

  • Like PP said, everyone here has multiples, so you won't get a very accurate idea.  But anywho, I did take 50mg Clomid on cycle days 4-8 (I think) and got pg with twins on the first cycle.  I was not monitored that cycle, though, so I don't know how many mature follies I had.  I also had an HSG test done that same month.

Same here except that I took it days 5-9 and no HSG test.   took 50mg for 1 cycle.  Odds are that you will get pg with 1, but you can definitely get twins or even trips (I think the trip rate is around 1%) on Clomid.

  • I have triplets thanks to Clomid. I hope you are being monitored via ultrasound to see how many eggs you are producing. It is nothing to play around with.

I used clomid 50mg cd 5-9 and got pregnant with twins on the first cycle.

I'm currently 18 weeks with b/g twins. So excited.

    Thank you clomid :)

    Good luck!

  • One unmonitored cycle on 50mg of clomid on cd 3-7 was twins for me.  I also was unaware of the increase in chance of multiples until after I was pg.
  • We did one round of clomid + trigger shot with two follies but no baby. My doc switched me to Femara + trigger. Again, 2 follies and we are now expecting our twins.

  • Thank you all for replying! Congrats to all of you on your double/triple miricles! Dh and i have had a serious talk about the posibillity of  concieving multiples on clomid and we are honestly starting to like the idea of having twins. Twins also run on both sides of my family naturally and on dh fathers side naturally as well so we are thinking about talking to the doc about maybe trying for twins. but what can he really do to insure twins besides ivf?

Twins on your husband's side will have no bearing on whether or not you two conceive twins. The only way it's hereditary is through a hyper ovulation gene that you would have inherited from your parents. His sperm have nothing to do with it.

Please don't "try" for twins. Scroll through more of the posts on here about ladies on strict bed rest and heavy duty meds due to preterm labor or whose babies had to spend months in the NICU from being born too early.

I also know FAR too many women who lost their precious twins/triplets in 2nd tri due to PPROM and/or preterm labor. You don't want to try for a high risk PG.

Also, IVF doesn't ensure twins. They often transfer back more than one embryo during IVF but that's in the hopes that one of the embryos will implant. Sometimes both implant, sometimes none implant, and sometimes one embryo splits and 3 or 4 implant - you just never know.

Please make sure your doctor is monitoring you if you take Clomid.

Um.  No matter what you do, there is no guarantee for twins.  I would recommend just hoping for one healthy  baby.  Twins are a blessing, but the risks that come with being pg with multiples definitely is not.

This times 1000.  Coming from a preemie/ hospital bedrest MoM. While I wouldn't trade my twins for the world, their delivery/NICU stay resulted in a PTSD diagnosis for me and months of therapy. Twins are utterly amazing, but it is no walk in the park.

You clearly haven't done any research on a multiples pregnancy.  Please do so, and no need to come back here unless you are pregnant with multiples.

If you have an even halfway decent doctor, I'd love to see the look on his/her face when you place your order for a twin pregnancy.

  • I am 16 weeks pregnant with g/g twins after one cycle of 50mg of Clomid (that didn't work) and four successful cycles of clomid, So in short I got pregnant on my 5th cycle of Clomid100mg. I was also taking Metformin as a booster because of pcos. :) Good Luck!
