I just need what comes to your mind first as being the easiest:
The side by side double (wide) strollers? Or the front/back (longer) double stroller?
Cast all other details/use/age aside - which do you prefer/which will you buy?
Thanks for settling a debate in my household!
Re: Gut check: side by side or front/back double stroller?
side by side is too wide, that is my first thought
I have a front back and I thought it would be a nightmare to steer it is fine, actually steers better then my single LOL but man is it heavy.
we had a tandem first and it was good for my 11mon old and a newborn but ours was stolen from our front porch so we tried a side by side and i loved it but gave it to a friend and got another tandem but my boys (who are 18 & 29 months now) dont like not being able to touch each other so we are going back to a side by side
My decision is made for me. I only want one stroller, it needs to be a jogging stroller, and I'm in love with my BOB so it's the side by side BOB for me.
My coworker has the front/back stroller and hates it. She said it's so hard to manuever. I think either way you're going to have things you love and hate about each one.
In this case I would get a tandem. I was going to say side by side. I have the city select and it is a bit hard to steer in certain configurations (heavy kid in front is harder) so I want a side by side and I'll be getting a jogging stroller. I went w/ the city select because I *did* live in nyc. But now that I am in the burbs I dont' think it is a big deal to take up the width of the sidewalk and I think most side by sides fit through doorways. I am under the impression side by sides steer more easily.
Front/Back, and if you get the Joovy sit and stand, it's not wide AT ALL! I just bought this stroller yesterday, and it's fabulous. It's for my 7 month old, who sits in front, and my 3 year old, who loves the perch in the back (I've borrowed this stroller before from friends, and my 3 year old actually cried when I had to give it back!). It's super durable and lightweight for a double, and VERY compact. My 3 year old (actually 3 and a half) does not like to be strapped into a seat, and it's so nice for her to just be able to jump out and jump back on, either at the park, or at the zoo, or wherever. LOVE! Highly recommend any brand of sit and stand stroller (there's a few out there).
Oh, I meant it's not long at all. Not wide or long.
The newer ones are pretty narrow. If you're willing to pay for it, the Mountain Buggy Duet is only 25" wide. Others come in right at 29 or 30", which really will fit through most doors, unless you live in an older city like NYC or Boston.
Ditto this - except we did live in Boston for the first year of DD's life (and of 2u2), and never had a problem getting our Bumbleride Indie Twin through any doorways. I do know people who had trouble with the Bob, though. Just depends on the stroller. But definitely love my side by side!!
We have a front back for shopping and every day use and side by side for longer bigger outings like amusement park, walks and the mall if someone is tired
