Cloth Diapering

Cloth Wipes Solution

What do you use for your solution, and how do you do it? Right now we have all of our wipes (mostly baby washcloths) in a plastic disposible wipes container and they take several days to go through all of them, and we reload from the top when necessary. We have a cup of water nearby and wet them as we go.

There has to be a better/easier way to do this. What do you do?

Re: Cloth Wipes Solution

  • Not sure if this helps at all, but I think I'm going to skip the pre-wetting altogether and just keep a spray bottle of diaper lotion potion at the changing tables and in the diaper bag and just spray as I go. I keep reading about mold and crazy bugs crawling out of people's wipes containers and while I know they are exceptions and not the norm I'm too squeamish to chance it. Not to mention the constant refilling/remoistening, are they damp enough/too damp thing would drive me crazy.

  • I fill the peri bottle from the hospital with water and squirt the wipes as I need them.  I don't see a need to use wipe solution, and the peri bottle puts just enough water on them.  Easy peasy.

  • Ww use a spray bottle with a sqirt of baby wash and water. Spray as needed. Works great!
  • I put water and a squirt of California Baby wash in a peri bottle.  I keep wipes dry in a basket on the dresser (changing area) and wet as needed with the peri bottle.  Very easy and works well.
  • I use Baby Bum Drops.  They are so moisturizing!  They cleanse LO's skin but leave it feeling soft and moisturized.  (I worried about cleanser leaving his sensitive skin stripped.)

I just dissolve a Drop in a cup of warm water and poor it into a wipes warmer.  Then I load the warmer with about 12 wipes.  I go through them in 2 days.  So on laundry day I change the water/solution and add more wipes.

It's easy, the wipes say warm and fresh, and LO's skin is happy.  I love this system!

  • I squirt a solution of 1 c. water, 1. Tbsp baby oil, and 1 Tbsp baby shampoo from my peri bottle.  I would've just used plain water but I like the smell the solution made :)

  • I have a plastic container. I lay my wipes in there, and soak in wipe solution. I cover with a lid and take out the wipes as I need them. DD is squirmy, so it's just a huge pain to have to spray her bottom or wet a wipe once the diaper is off. I find this much easier.

  • I went all the way with the wipes warmer.  I just add a couple of drops of Tea Tree Oil to the solution and I have yet to have any mildew or mold or any unplesant smell what so ever.  Its really not a big deal to fold up the wipes.
