IVF #4: WWIFVD?

DH and I are still very sad about our loss last week.  We were so sure we had finally gotten our sticky baby only to have it ripped away from us without warning.  I'm still coming across small reminders that I forgot to remove like appointments on the calendar for my first OB appt,  alarms I had set on my phone to change my Vivelle patch, and some notes I had jotted down about who to tell and when/how.

Anyway, my RE said we had to wait at least 6-8 weeks before moving forward with IVF#4 (FET#2) which would put us cycling at the end of July/beginning of August.  I want to get another cycle going ASAP because of my age (I'll be 37 this year), but here's the issue...  My BFF is getting married next May and I am a BM in her wedding - DH is also a groomsman.  If IVF#4 is successful, my due date would be 3 weeks before the wedding.  Is that cutting it too close?  I don't care that I would have to miss the Bachelorette party (and she wouldn't care either), and I'm sure I'd still be able to throw her a shower, but I'm nervous that my due date would be too close to the wedding that if there were complications, I would have to back out and leave her without a BM/GM.  Of course, if the result was twins, my edd would be a good month and a half before the wedding.

If I wait a month (which kind of makes me sick to my stomach to even consider) I would "hopefully" be 7.5 - 8 months pg at the wedding.

What do you girls think?  Move forward and have a due date a few weeks before or hold off and be pregnant at the wedding?

For me personally, if infertility has taught me anything it is to not wait and move forward. I have put my life on hold too many times due to if...not anymore. If you get pregnant this next fet, you will find a way to work things out. is the wedding local?

  • 1st off, I am so very sorry for your loss.  I had no idea. ((huge hugs))

2nd, I think you should go ahead with the cycle as scheduled & not put it off if that's what your heart is telling you, which it sounds like it is.

This a million times over! You're a sweet friend to be concerned about how you may impact the wedding. That said, YOU are the priority. Whatever the future brings, you'll figure out how to handle the wedding. No sweat!  Hugs.

    Baby girl Lila born 2013.
    Baby boy Henry born 2015.
Expecting our capstone baby (boy) early March 2018.
  • I would move forward with the FET when you feel it's right.  I wouldn't push it back due to a wedding.

Also, so sorry for your loss and also for the constant reminders.  I can relate.  I filled out a form to start prenatal yoga and they gave my info to every maternity and baby store in Houston, a doula, and a baby photographer.  I keep getting coupons and free samples in the mail and I lost it when I got the first bunch (3 arrived in 1 day).  Luckily, it has gotten easier.  Hang in there!

After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!

  • I'm so sorry again for your loss. But there is no way I would ever put a wedding ahead of trying for a baby at this point. You're a good friend, but honestly I wouldn't worry about that at all. Having a baby is the priority, and you can deal with everything else as it comes.

This.  Do not put cycling on hold.  If things work out for you, which i hope they do, and things mess with the timing of the wedding, you'll deal with it as it comes along.  And your friend can't be mad at you knowing everything you've gone through to get where you are.  :::hugs::: hang in there sweetie.  Been thinking of you.
