Really stupid question. (about church)

I was never raised in church.  Mom is Jewish and Dad is Protestant.  I really want to start going to church b/c I think it's good to have faith etc.  I am a fan of the Presby. faith and DD will be starting at a Presby. school in Feb.  I want to start going to church but I have NO CLUE about it.

 

Can I just go?

 

Do I have to do anything? 

 

Sorry it's such a stupid questions but i know nothing about organized religion.

You can just go.  At the church I work at we have membership classes that you take when you are ready to be a member.

Just go and find a place to sit.  Everyone will be very nice and welcoming to you!  Nothing is required.  They'll more than likely pass around an offering plate at some point, but don't feel obligated to give.

You might have to try a few churches before you find the one that fits you and your family, but I'm sure everyone you meet will be kind to you.

Yes.  Just go and check it out.  If you like it and continue to go, I would talk to the pastor about becoming a memeber.

You can just go, but you might enjoy it more and find it more comfortable if you have or make a friend who goes to the church you go to.  I don't go to church, but participate in a lot of community outreach of our neighborhood church.  It helps a lot that I have  a friend who is very involved and knows what the opportunities are and who the people are.

You can just go.  If you find a church that you really like and want to become an official memeber of then you would register with the church.

You can just go and see how you like it, how you fit in, see how friendly the congregation is, etc.  Most churches have membership classes or you can meet with the minister/pastor and become a member.  IF you are a member many times you get a discount at the school of the church.
