Lettuce?

My first CSA share came in and it's full of lettuces. Are they safe to eat? I'm really confused about what you can and cannot eat. It's from a sustainable farm.

Re: Lettuce?

  • Yup it's fine.  Wash it the same as anything else.  9 months would be a long time to go without lettuce.

  • Just wash it thoroughly. I wouldn't eat at a salad bar, but lettuce you can wash is fine.

  • I heard that more than 60oz of water a day will drown your fetus. Be careful.

I'm dead serious. Ask your doctor at your next appointment. It may be 70 ounces (baby brain strikes again), but this is the truth.

I don't see the point in getting a CSA basket if you're terrified of whole foods.  There has never been a listeria, salmonella or E.coli recall (that I'm aware of) on Cheez-Its.

From your lips to God's ear. Amen.

lol. So what you are saying is I SHOULD eat some Twinkies...I mean, my tomatoes are bound to be teeming with disease.

    Nothing gets past you.

    Sharp.

True but I heard if you drink too much it will just flush the baby out, but if you down some glue first it will stick inside

  • Your CSA produce is bound to be a bagillion times better the stuff in the grocery store. That is why you signed up, no? Unless it was just the cool thing to do in your neighborhood...

I just can't believe all the vegetable and H20 intake around here.  It was hard, but I avoided water like the plague and drank only Diet Mt. Dew for 9 months to keep my fetus afloat.

Carbonation makes the amniotic fluid jacuzzi like. Ahhhhhh baby spa day!

ILY.  Also, I've been living off of Cheezits this week, they are the ONLY thing that sounds good.

  • Thanks for all the lovely, helpful comments it was really "appreciated." For those of you who weren't snarky a sincere thank you from a first time mom who was reading weird things on the Internet.

I enjoyed a very yummy arugula, beet and strawberry salad! Yums.

I typically don't get involved in all this, but trust me these girls were not being snarky!  Cheer up!

Glad you enjoyed your salad!  I made a pea vine, cherry and mint salad on Saturday, it was oh so tasty!  The pea vines were from our co-op and the mint from our backyard.  Isn't it fun to get all these new/fresh fruits and veggies?
