dropping bedtime bottle

How rough was it? Last night for some reason DS didn't want it, so we decided not to offer it tonight. We were already working on getting rid of it. He usually goes to sleep without a sound but hes crying now. It could be his molars, but I think its mostly the lack of bottle. Tell me it gets better!

Re: dropping bedtime bottle

  • How soon before bed is his last meal or snack?  Maybe try these as close to bed as possible so he just isn't hungry.  That is how we stopped nighttime bottles around 9 months.  She finishes dinner around an hour before bed, and she just wasn't hungry again.

  • He has dinner an hour or so before bed. Were down to 3 oz. I caved and gave it to him. :/ I'm tougher when DH isn't home making me feel guilty so we'll try tomorrow. He was crying harder than he ever has. This is way worse than when we did CIO.

Hmm...switch from milk to water for a few nights?

  • He got some acetaminaphin (sp?) around 4 so it could be wearing off, but its too soon for more. He's going to sleep now after a small bottle and a small hissy fit. He has been sort of off today, so I guess it was a bad day to try. Maybe I'll try water tomorrow night.

  • Reese eats dinner about an hour before bedtime. At dinner, she gets a cup of milk. If she finishes it then, she gets water between dinner and bedtime. If she doesn't finish the cup of milk, she is offered it during playtime--once it is gone it is gone.

She doesn't really drink much in the morning, so I do want her to finish the cup, but once it is gone she gets water. It works for her.

Is there a reason you're doing acetaminophen over ibuprofen?

Because  acetaminophen did jack for us. And with molars? Forget it. Motrin is a godsend.

I've been alternating between acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
