I have my first u/s (at my first prenatal appointment) scheduled for July 10th. I'll be at nine weeks. When I made the appointment, they didn't tell me what kind of u/s will be done or how to prepare for it and I didn't think to ask them at the time. I'll call to clarify when it gets closer to my appointment, but in the mean time, is it more likely to be vaginal or transabdominal?

I had one done today. They instructed me to drink 20 oz of water within an hour of going. They did an abdominal one first, had me empty my bladder and then did a transvaginal one. She instructed me as soon as I walked in the door that she was going to do it that way.
I would call and ask. They want you to have a full bladder if your having an abdominal one done and at 9 weeks, it could go either way.
I had both. She said she'd try the abdominal one first to see if we got a good view. My uterus is tilted and the baby was really low, so the vaginal one turned out way better. Mine was at about 6.5 weeks though so you might have better luck at 9 weeks.
You don't really need to prepare for either one except shower like the others said! I was instructed to change into a paper gown, so it didn't even matter what I was wearing. Also she had me empty my bladder first, but it was probably because we'd been sitting there for an hour and she could tell I was getting uncomfortable.
