Baby Aspirin Question...Please help!

I am 9 weeks along and am going on a plane later this week. My doctor told me to take a baby aspirin since pregnancy causes you to be more prone to clotting. However, every article I have read says to avoid aspirin as it could cause complications or even a miscarriage, which has been my biggest cause of anxiety and worry so far. What should I do?

Re: Baby Aspirin Question...Please help!

  • I took a plane early in my pregnancy and was fine (without medication). I don't think it's necessary to take the baby aspirin.

  • i dont think its necessary just for a plane ride but just for information sake I will tell you that I take baby aspirin everyday and was told it actually helps reduce miscarriage, so dont be freaked out if you do decide to take it!

  • I was on Baby Aspirin for the first 13 weeks but a doctor told me to be to prevent miscarriage since I had previous losses. I don't know that taking it one time just to go on a plane is normal but it's probably not harmful if your doctor suggested it.

  • If your prone to clots or sg a clotting gene you have to take a baby aspirin everyday.

  • Two things: 1) I flew plenty when pregnant with ds without even a slight concern. Is this a really long flight? Just make sure you get up a lot (and I'm sure you'll need to make frequent bathroom trips so it won't be a problme), and 2) I am actually purposely on baby aspirin daily for a different issue and it is something my high-risk doctor agrees with and says is very safe. So, either way, you'll be fine I'm sure!

  • 1) Clots are more likely In later pregnancy

    2) Walk around the plane as much as possible and change positions.

    3) I take Baby aspirin everyday. I have for the past 3 years and I have A healthy little man and one on the way. I have a blood disorder which was the cause of my miscarriage a few years back. Aspirin is not recommended during pregnancy for a healthy person But It is considered safe.

  • I take a low dose aspirin every day for a blood clotting disorder.

Most recent research indicates that low dose aspirin does not do any harm, even in a healthy pregnant woman.  It is just advised to end it a minimum of 2 weeks prior to delivery.

  • Like the others, I have been taking baby aspirin daily since my BFP and plan to until 13 weeks (per doctor) to prevent miscarriage.  Baby aspirin is a lower dose than regular aspirin and completely safe.
