Pregnant after 35

I hate BabiesRus...

Ugh that store makes me so mad..... Or maybe I am just hormonal who knows. The staff are rude, the assortment is crappy and the displays are a hot mess! Oh and I am a Director for a luxury retail brand so these things bother me even more. My registry is at BuyBuyBaby but I had received some duplicate gifts from BRU from distant family members which I needed to return. I wanted to buy some hooded towels that were in a plastic snap close package. I opened the snap just to see how soft the towels were and the sales person comes running over and tells me I am not allowed to touch or open packages.   Obviously I am not going to buy scratchy towels!  She then proceeded to lecture me as to why I couldn't touch product... Germs etc. Are you kidding me!  And that's why my registry is at BBB!

Vent over.

  • I hate that place too. It makes me drive out to the suburbs, because we don't have stores in the city. That alone makes me angry. Then, none of the nicer stuff is ever carried in stock in the stores. I got some yucky scratchy wash cloths there from a mail order. I am so taking them back and buying soft ones from the pottery barn instead.

  • I would have replied, "oh, thanks.  I wasn't planning on blowing my nose on them. I was just feeling them for softness.  Besides, I don't know a single mother that buys a washable item and doesn't wash it before using it...EVER.  Are people allowed to touch the clothes on the hanger, or the unwrapped products on the shelf?  Those items will have many more germs on them than these hooded towels will from me touching them.  Oh and what about people who open packages, then return items with you being none the wiser?  Get a grip sales lady, get a grip  This is just another reason, I won't shop here again."

Then again, I'm a speak my mind kind of girl and that sales girl needs to take it down a notch.

  • I, also, found the service at BRU lacking to say the least.  We also registered at BBB.  They were SO NICE there.  They kept bringing me newly chilled bottles of water wherever I was in the store and everyone who helped us was super knowledgeable.

Everyone at BRU (when we went to look at their cribs) seemed totally clueless about anything baby-related - until we talked to the furniture manager, who was actually competent.

  • AMEN!

With my DS I registered at both BRU and BBB because I have a lot of family and friends without access to BBB and who don't want to shop online or buy a GC. I really didn't like BRUs selection too much and every time I went in there it was just a bunch of teenagers working who know nothing about baby products. And it is always a total mess.

The only time I shop there is if I need to grab something really quick because it's so close to work or if they have the same product as BBB but with a cheaper price. The one good thing is that they let me use my BBB competitor's coupons there!!

  • Totally agree.

  • Ditto! It makes me so mad that I was basically forced to register there because I think it's tacky to broadcast where we're registered, and people are just such creatures of habit so everyone assumes you're registered at BRU. I had a second registry on diapers.com (where so many things were cheaper!) but no one was using it so I moved everything over to BRU. It kills me that people are spending $5-$20 over the diapers.com price for the same merchandise!

I can't. Stand that place.  If only we had a BBB remotely close to us.  / sigh

I also hate that coupons they send you for your 'rewards' card excludes all toys, diapers, formula, and just about anything you'd ever want to buy.
