Question about exercising....

Hi everyone

Just wondering when everyone started to work out!

I had my son Ryan on June 1st. The dr. had to cut me in order for Ryan to come out, however he said it was just a small snip (whatever that means)

I've been feeling good and down there does not really bother me with pain (more so itching and I'm guessing cause its healing sorry TMI) but has anyone else been cut and have you been working out/exercising.

Re: Question about exercising....

  • I am interested in the responses, I had a c-section May 23rd and have been walking but some days I am just way to sore.  Good Luck!!

  • I have been cleared to exercise but haven't done much but a few short walks in the neighborhood.  I had my c-section on May 3rd and feel great now!  I need the motivation to get started with some kind of exercise routine.

  • I gave birth May 18th (vaginal delivery, no tearing or stitches) and I've been walking a lot but no real exercise.  I was going to ask at my 6 week PP visit, but with LO breastfeeding almost constantly these days, I just don't see how I would have the time to get out to a yoga class or to the gym, kwim?

  • My LO was born on April 27 and I had a 2nd degree tear.  I was cleared for more strenuous exercise at my 6 week pp appointment, and have been doing a little bit of jogging on my daily walks for the last week.  I try not to overdo it because when I do my perineum is sore for a few days after.  With a tear or episiotomy, you should make sure you get cleared by your doctor before doing anything but walking.

  • I am dying to get back to the gym but have to wait until my 6 week appt. I am 4 weeks out now but had an episiotomy and am still constantly bleeding itsa pain in the ass. I just take walks now but its not an intense workout that I want!

  • I was cleared when I had my 6w pp appt but have not had a moment to try and do more than a walk with dd. My 2 older boys are on summer break so with 3 at home I have no time. I am going to start making time though!!! I need me time!!

  • [I started walking short distances pretty soon and worked my way up a bit to a longer walk around my neighborhood.

But wait until your PP checkup before you begin any real exercise you have to give your body time to heal from giving birth.

  • I'm a c-section mamma. I've only been walking a little and I don't have my 6 week check until the first week of July, which technically makes it a 7.5 week check. It's frustrating me so bad that I am not cleared. That being said, I know I really need to be careful bc I tend to push myself too hard and I am afraid I will hurt myself. I've already pulled my incision a number of times while squatting down to pick up the ball while playing with the dog. That hurts a lot.
