I figured I'd ask the BW experts! DD2 and I are going to a wedding in Utah this weekend (we're from MN). I plan(ned) to wear her in the moby wrap through the airport. My worry is related to the wedding itself. We will be outside for some of it. It's expected to be sunny/90s and I'm afraid we'll both roast! Would I be better off using the bjorn for that part of the day? Would that be easier in the airport, too? I'm quite comfortable using either carrier. I just want to minimize our hassle and not overheat. Thanks!
Re: Need BW advice for travel
We've flown quite a bit with our now 7 month old, and I never bring a stroller, just carriers. I wouldn't recommend the Moby at all, it's way too hot! We just got back from a cross country trip, where it was in the high 80s and VERY humid. The carrier I used the most was my wrap conversion Gira snow rainbow ring sling. I didn't even reach for my woven wrap (didy waves, which is one of the coolest) because it was that hot. I wore her in the sling on the plane for 6 hours and not a peep out of her. She slept in it, laughed, played, etc. but didn't cry or fuss once! People around us were amazed that a baby could be that easygoing and calm!
If you don't have a ring sling (btw, you can rent them from PAXbaby), I'd use a ssc for the plane, but not the Bjorn since they aren't the most comfortable for you or baby! I have an O&A that I love and used once on a short flight to Vegas, just before I got my sling. But, the sling is by far the best option..easy on/off and baby can happily sit in there the entire flight. Have a fun trp!
