How do you get test results from your Dr.?

Just curious - email, online system, phone, etc.?

My Dr's office has an online chart system. I love it b/c my Dr. sends my test results there and I can always go back and reference them. At first I didn't like that my Dr. never called me but once I got used to it, I love having that data to go back and reference whenever I want. This was esp. helpful to look back at the betas I originally had done with DD.

Just curious how your office handles it?

I do know they call for "abnormal" results. So since I've had my progesterone checked Friday and this morning, I'm kind of expecting a call. I will be shocked if my progesterone #s are "normal"....kind of hoping it's my Dr. who calls me b/c I'll have more questions but I bet it will be a nurse.

My PCP emails them to me. I LOVE her

My OB I have to call and ask. Sometimes they call me

Specialists I have to go in for an actual appointment to get them.

My OB emails normal results and calls with abnormal ones.  My PCP sends a letter in the mail for normal results and has the nurse call to schedule an appointment to go over abnormal ones--that wait is terrifying.  Because they do that even for small abnormal results (low iron etc) so you never know what you are looking at.

I agree though that it is nice to be able to have something to go back and reference...

I work in the lab, so I usually just signed a release of records and watched our lab system like a hawk for the more complex testing. It's a good thing too because when I had the tissue analysis done after our second loss, there was some reflex testing automatically done that my OB didn't even know existed! He had no idea he should be looking for more results. It was a mess. I did almost all of my betas and blood counts "under the radar" and would just report my results verbally to my doctor, so I obviously knew the results before he did. He thought it was great that I did all that work for him! My doctor always called me with results. He was really great like that. He called whether they were normal or abnormal.

My OB/GYN calls...usually the next day for HCG (sometimes I have to call to remind them), a normal pap-a nurse calls within a week or so, abnormal pap-the dr calls.

My PCP, usually sends normal results in the mail in about a week or so. I had an Echocardiogram/heart monitor and a nurse called a few days after with the results.

PCP - Letter for normal results.  I haven't had them run anything that's been abnormal.  I would assume they'd call.  Or come over, I literally live next door to my PCP.

OB/GYN - Letter for normal routine tests like pap smears.  Nurse phone call for just about everything else unless we need to make a treatment decision.  My OB called personally during the first week of my ectopic to discuss options based on my hcg levels.

A nurse from my RE's office usually calls as soon as they get something.

The RE office always calls us. 

My (former) OB/GYN didn't ever give me test results unless I called and pestered them about it. Even during the miscarriage, when we were following my betas back to zero, I still had to call them and get the results myself.
