Main Line OBs?

Hello everyone,

I am 10 weeks pregnant and due in Jan of 2013. I currently live in Boston but will be moving back to main line area the end of july, and will need to find an OB. Any suggestions? I think I want to plan to give birth at Lankenau hospital... but will be looking into other options (just not Bryn Mawr Hosp). I will be going for my 12 week appt here in boston, but then need to schedule all future appts in Philly.

Thank you! Any suggestions are appreciated (ps- we have Aetna insurance)

Congrats! I delivered at Lankenau last year and I had a great experience. I used Drs. McConnell, Belden and Peden.  I especially liked Belden and Peden.

In full disclosure, I just switched to Dr. Bailey who also delivers at Lankenau so I could have a better chance at a vbac.

Thank you for the info! What practice (s) do they work out of?

  • I go to Main Line Health in Broomall, Lawrence Park Shopping Center. The main OB there is Dr. Lavaran. There is one other OB and 3 physician assistants. They deliver at Lankenau. Highly recommend it.
  • I delivered my son at Pennsylvania Hosp. in Center City but we have since moved to the Main Line (Ardmore) and I needed a new doctor. When we're ready for #2, I want to deliver at Lankenau. My new OB/GYN is Dr. Porcelan with Women for Women at Lankenau Hosp (their office is in the hospital). I have friends who go other doctors at that practice and highly recommend all of the doctors there.

  • I second Dr. Maggie Peden and Dr. Belden, their practice is at Lankenau and both of them delivered my second child. Belden's shift was over but he stuck around to assist Dr. Peden do the final delivery. It was really a nice experience. I think the practice is called Belden, Peden, and then a few other names I can't remember.
  • Thank you all for the suggestions! My sister and I were both born at Lankenau, so we might as well keep up tradition.

  • I highly recommend Dr. Scott Bailey at Lankenau.  His office is located at the hospital and the number is 610) 658-5266.  He has ultrasound machines in his office and I had my first scan at 6 weeks.  He often does scans at every appointment.  He came highly recommended from my primary care physician at UPenn.  I was extremely happy with the care I received during my pregnancy this year.
  • my sister in law gave birth at Lankenau she loved it. I also wanted to say I will keep you in my prayers.
  • I currently live in the city. I just moved here from West Chester and I am not sure who is the best in the city. Any suggestions?
