Some questions about due date and gender.

Went to the DR with DH and OB nurse did Ultrasound and confirmed that I am pregnant. She told me I am actually 6 weeks along and I thought I was actually 10 weeks along. They originally gave me a due date of January 28th but since I'm only 6 weeks along would my due date be sometime in at the end of Feb? Possible first few days in April? I go in with DH to my next appointment Tuesday to find out the exact due date of the baby. The last date we tried for a baby was May 9th, and so since I didn't start ovulating until the 14th or 15th, DH thinks it's a high possibility that it will be a baby girl since we didn't try the day before or day of so is he correct on that?

Unless you know exactly when you ovulated, there's no way to tell.  It is thought that the male sperm are faster swimmers, but that the girls live longer...so if you were trying for a specific gender, in theory, you could use that information.  To have higher chances of a girl, sex 2-3 days before ovulation would be best, and to have higher chances of a boy, sex the day before and day of ovulation would be best.  But that's just a slightly increased chance, not a 'high probability' that it would be one or the other.  Basically, it's about a 50/50 chance.

Hopefully Tuesday they can help get a solid measurement and tell you your new EDD. I don't know though how you thought you'd be 10 weeks but you know you O'd on May 14th? If you know that then your EDD would've been Jan 30, 2012 & you'd be 8 weeks today.  It's more likely with their measurements you O'd closer to May 28th so if the last time you tried that month was May 9th their measurements don't add up & I'd mention that to your Dr.

Since you went from 10 weeks to 6 weeks I wouldn't get wrapped up on wether or not the shettles method is going to work for you. I'd take this time to just focus on your pregnancy - it won't be all that long before you're finding out pink or blue for sure.

I am thinking she meant end of February or first few days of March. Just a guess as I've found myself typing lots of things that don't make sense due to pregnancy brain.

Yeah I meant it will be either at the end of Feb, early March. I don't know why I said April for?

Um....she would have to conceive next month in order to get a due date of April, so that doesn't make sense at all....OP, if you are 6 weeks along you will be due around the beginning to middle of February.

Update:So DH and I went to my 2nd Ultra sound today... and the tech said that the baby's heartbeat is fine over 140 and that I am progressing along nicely. She said that the due date is Feb 2nd 2013. Excited that the baby's heart beat is good.  There's a lot of planning we need to do between now and before baby arrives. What's the best baby registry to register with? target? babies R us?
