bassinet question

Hi,

I am new to the board though lurked on TTGP, trouble TTGP and here for awhile. we are expecting di-di twins in December 2012.  we just bought a new townhome and I am pretty set that I would like to have bassinets for the babies in our bedroom for the first several months and will eventually probably buy convertible cribs for the nursery.

I had a question for the experienced MoM's about bassinets.  I wanted to get something simple not too expensive but nice looking.  however, when I look in the baby bargains book they advocate not to get a standalone bassinet and get one of the graco pack and plays with bassinet attachments.  of course they don't really comment on twins.

I found this pack n play/twin bassinet

I wasn't sure how it is to have the newborn twins right next to each other.  is this okay?  has anyone used this and liked it? any info would be great!

Also, honestly It wasn't that much cheaper then getting two of these bassinets, except of course the pack n play has a pack n play.

Again our townhome isn't huge (2200 sq ft - how much do you use the pack n play itself with 2?

Thanks and sorry for the long first post!

 EDIT: trying to fix clickys!

Though not as pretty as a bassinet - we couldn't live without the Fisher Price Rock and Plays.  My girls slept in them for the first 4 mos and we just moved them around the house - wherever we were.

FYI: Be careful saying your 2200 sq ft home isn't huge. Another MOM got some unhappy responses to a similar remark the other day about her 2400 sq ft home. Skip the twin PNP and bassinets and get 2 PNPs. The twin one doesn't get good reviews and bassinets aren't very versatile and can't be used long. PNPs can be used for awhile. And don't wait to get the cribs. Get them both and set them up before the babies are born.

Thanks for the info. will be careful - actually was just trying to provide details because I know that "huge" is relative for people. I was more comparing to a home I grew up in where there was more space in general and I could see how a PNP would be useful.  How long do you use PNPs in general?

what are they most useful for? Just debating about how much 2 PNPs would take up in our "open space" and allow for other baby related toys/accessories.

    Thanks!

  • I second the Fisher Price Rock and Sleepers- they are wonderful! Mine each have cribs but for the beginning they will use the sleepers.
  • we are planning to get a co sleeper, full size, instead of a pack and play for downstairs, it has a much higher weight limit.  But we did also  grab the rock and play off crsigs list, just for the option.
