Discharge Question...

Hi everyone!

 

I am 6 1/2 weeks postpartum...  It's been nearly a week & a half since I stopped having discharge.  This morning I woke up to a dark, dark reddish brown discharge in my panties & found more upon wiping.  It's been coming on & off throughout the day.  Is this normal or should I be phoning my doctor?

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I've heard of the the " 6 week bleed" where bleeding tends to start again around the 6 week pp mark. I haven't had any bleeding today, and I figured I'd just mention it to my OB when I go for my 6 week pp visit this week. I wouldn't worry too much unless you start bleeding really heavily.

I've been having the same exact thing! I Googled the "six week bleed" that the above poster mentioned and it sounds like it's pretty common, especially if you are BFing. I had never heard of this before- I thought I was getting my period back already and I was pissed!

I am 6 weeks pp as well and have also had a tiny bit of light brown spotting about once a day.  I think it's normal but it could also be your period starting?  If it persists longer than your comfortable with and it isn't your period then it wouldn't hurt to call your doctor just to make sure.

I had this with DD. I stopped bleeding at 5w, and the day of my 6w pp, it started again. And stopped and started for a few more weeks. Then, it stopped completely until I was put on BC to regulate my cycles.
