I'm planning on breast feeding my baby but I will have some formula for back up in case of emergencies. Not sure what formula to use. I'm interested in either Earths Best organic or Enfamil. Any suggestions or recommendations would be very helpful. Im a FTM so looking for some advice. Thanks in advance ladies!

Re: Which formula??
After I stopped BFing DD, I used Enfamil. It worked great for her.
However, every baby is different as you know. If you only want it as emergencies you may need a small can of a couple different types as you never know what baby will like or react to. Their tummies can accept some but reject others, I have some friends who went through several brand tries before finding one that didn't upset baby's stomach or that they would drink.
Usually the hospital gives you free swag, and often it's from formula companies so if you get a can you may want to hang onto it just in case. If you don't need it, just give it to another mommy. (that's what me and my SIL did who had babies at the same time, she gave me her Enfamil and I gave her the Similac sample).
My OB office was giving out free samples of the Enfamil at my last visit, so we're going to stick with that and see if it works.
I have heard the same as pp said re: possibly going through a few different brands before finding one that works - so we bought one additional can of the formula just to have on hand, since I had an amazing coupon for it.
If we don't use it/LO doesn't like the samples, I'm planning on donating any unopened ones to our local food bank, since I'm sure they need stuff like that.
I am an NICU nurse and we use both Similac and Enfamil. Not that this is entirely important, but I can't stand the smell of Enfamil. Something about the smell of it makes my stomach churn. Even the spit-up from the babies smells worse to me. lol.
If organic is an option for you, that would probably be the healthiest. However, all formula (generic included) must meet the same minimum standards and have the same ingredients.

I'm a NICU nurse as well, and our pedi's are concerned with some if the organic choices out there, specifically Similac organic, since the whey: casein ratio is inverse to what traditional (enfamil, Similac, etc) formulas use, and this might cause digestive issues. I agree though that generic is just fine as any other option. If you really just want an "in case of emergency" stash, ask your pedi...they probably have plenty of free sample to give you.

You can also score free small cans from the manufacturers. Join Similac Strong Moms and they will send you free formula, coupons, etc
I second this. I have 2 free cans of similac and 2 of enfamil because of joining their website things. I am doing the same thing, keeping them just in case.
We used Similac Advance and switched to Costco's version of Similac Advance/Enfamil Lipil to save money (it was 2 large tubs for $20 vs. $22 or whatever for one name brand). We were lucky to not have a baby with reflex though...
