possible reflux or gas

we started DD on zantac due to possible silent reflux. she's a happy baby but groans and arches her back alot after eating as if she is in pain. we started it wednesday  afternoon. anyone know how long till i know if it's working or if it isn't going to work?

on a side note, she also may just be very gassy. i can't pin point anythign in my diet that could cause it; although she only gets about 1oz of breastmilk every 3-4 hours and 1-2oz of formula (simliac advance) she grunts and then pulls her legs up and acts as if she's pushing. so i have some similac sensitive that i am gonna try and not give her my breast milk for a day and see if that helps. then i will try to figure out what i am eating to cause it if that's what it is.

Re: possible reflux or gas

  • I was told it could take up to 2 weeks to notice a difference, some people say they noticed a difference within a few days though.

My little one had the same symptoms, but was extremely fussy/agitated. We went though the usual "silent reflux" treatment options but nothing really seemed to help too much. Turned out I think he had milk protein intolerance the whole time...it could be something to consider, especially with her premature belly.

I would recommend talking with her pediatrician about MSPI, and possibly trying an elimination diet (to continue breastfeeding)

Good luck, I know how tough it is! :)
