Re: if you've changed formula

  • We changed formulas a few days before she turned a month old. She had symptoms of reflux and colic so my pedi recommended we try Nutramigen. I know that for a lot of babies, the first 3 weeks are usually good. What formula are you using now?

  • At 2weeks I changed my baby's formula from similac advance to similac sensitive...he is doing so much better...he was fine with the SA for the first week and then got super gassy and fussy...no longer the case ;)

  • My little man is just over 3 weeks and we changed his formula tonight. We were using Similac Advance and we switched to Similac Sensitive. He was very fussy and gassy. I also could never get him to burp.

Starting today he didnt want to eat anything over 2 ounces, normally he eats atleast 4.....I can already tell a difference and its only been a few hours. I got him to burp 3 times and he was passing gas. So far so good, hes been really content

  • WE switched from Similac Sensitive to Similac Advance at about 9 days old because the public health nurse suggested not using a lactose free formula if there was no need to do so. At 5 weeks we switched from Similac Advance to GoodStart Omega 3/6 because of some poop issues. All I can say is I wish I knew about GoodStart right from the start!!!! Both times I switched I just did a clean switch, I didn't gradually introduce the new formula, didn't seem to have any issues doing this, and the second time it fixed the poop issue after 2 bottles!
  • i just switched my LO to Nutramigen. this is her 3rd formula and i praying it helps with her pain like crying after each bottle

  • This is not really related but I just switched my LO from Nutramigen to similac sensitive and now she has stringy sticky looking poop. Did that happen with any of you when you transistioned to new formula? I'm hoping it's just her body readjusting?

Same here but changed her at 3 weeks to nutramigen due to colic, bad gas and 2 weeks ago she was diagnosed with reflux. I believe she had reflux the whole time, I had to call again and see a different doctor to get Zantac.

I didn't get this consistency when switching. Is this mucussy poop? I would let the pedi know, at least try googling it. They alway asked me if there was mucus in her poop. Why did you have to change from nutramigen? Just wondering, we have L on it but it's been 5 weeks. Hoping to try gentle ease when she's about 3 months.

  • We were put on Nutramigen at 2 weeks because I told the pedi she had colic. Although now I know she never did she was just a regular fussy baby (consolable and not crying for consecutive hours... I wish our pedi would have asked me more about it because she probably would have never been started on Nutramigen in the first place.. He just took my word for it). Anyway he did tell us to switch back to her sensitive formula if we didn't notice a big difference because he wasn't sure if it would help and the price differences..she was also started on Zantac at 1 month for reflux. We were too scared to switch her until now ..Honestly we changed because the Nutramigen just went up another 2 dollars (35.88) and we decided to give the other formula a try since she wasn't put on it because of a milk allergy. She was a little extra fussy tonight but her poop looked better.. No mucous but still a little runny. I read that can sometimes happen when you change their formula. I'm hoping that's what it is and it's not an allergy. I'm probably going to give it a day or 2 and if it's still bad I'm just going to switch her back and say it was worth a try

I also think our fussiness was because of the reflux, we weren't diagnosed until 1 month and it did help a lot! That's also why we decided to change, hoping for a good outcome!

  • We switched from enfamil to enfamil AR at 7 weeks.  This was due to reflux that had gotten a lot worse once I stopped BF at 6 weeks.  It's a bit better now but definitely still a problem

  • By two weeks we went from similac to similac sensitive. By about three and a half weeks we were on nutramigen.
