Doppler Question

Just got my doppler in yesterday and i've been able to find LO's heartbeat when I try but sometimes i'll barely get it and then it's gone again. I'm 12 weeks. Do you all have similar experiences? Is there times you can't find it at all?

I have been using mine for a week.  At ten weeks I was able to find it easily, and it stayed in the same spot consisitently.  I noticed the past 2 nights that it is alittle harder to find, and it moves (but I always find it).  It will be really strong for a few seconds, then fade off a bit, and I have to move the wand slightly to find it again.  I think that is because LO is moving around more.

  • At 11w2d the doctors weren't able to find a heartbeat on a doppler for me so I'm sure you might have difficulties for a while getting a consistent read. My ute is tipped pretty far back & baby is "sitting on it's head" so that's why they couldn't find it for me - I got a u/s instead which was cool.
  • I don't have one but I read it can be very hard to pick it up because it's not as strong as the doctors'.

Me too! And my OB said my own blood vessels are very LOUD so we moved to the ultrasound pretty quickly. I haven't tried to use the doppler since my appointment. If the OB can't find the baby's hb...

  • You're baby is pretty little and pretty active.  It can be that it just isn't sitting still long enough for you to pick it up for very long.  :)
