Sitting up?

Ok maybe a silly question but when I took DS in to meet his teachers at DC she asked if he's sitting up yet.... umm.... he is just mastering rolling tummy to back. Isn't it a bit early for that? He's a big boy too, already ~20# and while we're working on developing his muscles even the pedi said it might take him a little longer to get himself up b/c he's such a big boy. Just seemed odd from someone who spends their days with kids less than 1.

Re: Sitting up?

  • We have a big boy too, and I always have people asking me if he's sitting yet.  I just say, "Not yet, we're still mastering the roll right now."  Even worse is when my friends ask me if he's crawling yet. Ummm, no.  I'm the first of my friends to have a baby, but it's still really hard not to laugh.  Coming from a DC worker though? I would think they should know!

  • Brandon isn't even rolling yet... he tries. He squirms from side to side but just can't get all the way flipped over... Our babysitter has been working with him on sitting up and he's just not even close to that yet.

My DD is the same way. It's her thunder thies that are keeping her from rolling over all the way lol

DD can sit up for a few seconds at a time then just fold over LOL People also ask me if DD is crawling/sitting/eating solids yet.. Sometimes I just want to say : Shes already walking, talking, eating steak and right now applying for a job

My ds tries so hard to sit up but I think his little potbelly gets in the way lol. If you sit him up he can hold it for a few seconds but then falls over. Although last night he seemed like he was doing better balancing himself so I think he's getting there. I'm just glad he's finally able to roll. He had no interest in rolling until about a week ago. Before that he would just scream during tummy time. It's amazing how much they change from day to day.

  • My guy just started sitting up this week. He's still a little unsteady but I put the Boppy around him. It's crazy how one day they can suddenly master a skill!
