How to transition lo from rnp to pnp/crib

The RNP has been a lifesaver for us since night 2 home from the hospital but i would like her to at least start taking naps in her pnp or crib. Problem is she doesn't last more than 20 minutes if i put her down asleep flat on her back. So is there a technique for making this transition? ftm here and lo is 5 weeks. thanks!

  • I was having the same problem then used the swaddleme and that was my life saver...

  • We just did this this week but for us it was a transition from our bed to the crib because she never took to her pnp. For our LO I would put her in her crib anytime she fell asleep whether from my arms or in her chair. She wouldn't sleep long but eventually it got longer.

I also found that if I tilted her up on her side and patted her back lightly like I was burping her and alternated between that and rubbing slowly and gradually backed off softer and softer pats she would fall asleep. Then I just lowered her back onto her back slowly and pulled out my hand gently. Now she sleeps for 1-2 hours stretches so she's getting more used to it in just these few days.

  • Are you swaddling? We use the RNP for naps during the day, then we use the PNP at night in our bedroom. However the only way he will stay alseep in the PNP is if he is swaddled.

Yes, we always swaddle at night and for most naps, particularly if she is fussy beforehand unless she falls asleep spontaneously.
