time limit in Jumperoo?

My little buddy has been happily jumping for a little over an hour now.  He has had a cold all day today (stuffy nose) so I didn't lay him down for his before bed playtime like I normally do.  He just got his jumper a few days ago and this is the longest he has been in it yet.  He usually fusses after 10 or 20 minutes wanting out.  Is it going to hurt him to be in it for such a long time?  He is having an awesome time and I am hoping he will tire himself out and sleep great tonight!

What would you do?  Take him out or let him play til he fusses wanting out?

Re: time limit in Jumperoo?

  • An hour is a bit long, but as long as you don't do it on a regular basis he should be fine.

  • I know at daycares they are required to switch activities every 20 minutes.  I try to move her around and not do the same 'type' of activity for more than 30 minutes.

  • Not sure if it was "The Baby Book", "What to expect the first year" or both - but the recommendation is not to leave them in an exersaucer, jumperoo, etc... for more than 30 minutes per day.

  • Yes an hour is too long my ped said it does nothing to develop hip muscles which helps them to sit up and crawl she said to limit to 30 mins
