  • I really like the name!
  • I don't know why I always get a strong, b!tchy correlation with that name. It just rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

  • I hear it a lot.  I personally know a high schooler named Bianca and a baby named Bianca, but I also live in highly Hispanic area.

  • I love Bianca- I had it on my girl long list. DH vetoed because it reminded him of the girl from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, which his sister made him watch a lot as a teenager.

  • Love it!  But I honestly thought it was Italian. I could be wrong.

One of my friends has a daughter named Bianca (age 7).  She's the only one I've ever met IRL.  She is very bright and spunky, so that's what I associate it with.

I know a local bumpie with a daughter named Bianca.

It is. It's of Italian and Romanian origin.

A few people have said this...I wonder why. It sounds stronger  and not necessarily as feminine as other names, but I've never run into a reason to associate it in this way.

It may just be because of an association with a person I knew in college.  But I also think it sounds kinda whiney and nasaly.  Maybe that's just the way I say it in my head!!

  • I think there is a reason that you don't hear it too often, it's not good.

    I get that vibe too.

I do know a Bianca IRL though who is pretty cool so I'm not sure why it rubs me that way.

  • I love it, but our last name starts with a "b" so it sounded too alliterative.

I like it a lot.  Its uncommon and not uber feminine (which are two of my criteria when picking a girl name).

FWIW, I definitely don't think it sounds bitchy at all.  (In fact, I'm not really sure how a name can sound bitchy unless you know someone with the name who is bitchy)

  • I used to regularly watch All My Children. Erica Kane's daughter's name was Bianca. The shows not on anymore so maybe people won't make the association. But when I hear the name, that's the first thing I think about with the crazy soap opera story lines.

This.  It's kind of sad, but yeah, not a fan.

Anniversary DS was born 11/30/12... so in love :)

Exactly this.  I have no idea why I feel this way, but I do.

How odd. Hmmm...I guess some names just do that to people. Usually it's a negative correlation between a name and a person with whom we have had a negative experience.
