IVF Consult today....

...and we discussed pretty much everything but IVF.

First of all, I was seeing Dr. Ch.eck from Coo.per in NJ. His office is decorating with giant, ornate medieval-looking furniture and Enya playing on a loop in the background. There was a medical student there listening in, which is fine with me other than the fact that he was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops and looked like young Zac Efron. It was very strange.

Other than the apparent strangeness, he made DH produce a sample right then and there to retest and he was really annoyed that Penn had never checked the sperm for antibodies. I also had bloodwork, an ultrasound and a post-coital mucus swab (even though "coitus" hasn't occurred in about a week).

Apparently, he is a big proponent of progesterone therapy and immediate ultrasounds after ovulation, so he wanted to try that right now (literally) before we plan an IVF. All of our testing today came back normal, so I left today with a script for a bunch of progesterone suppositories and another appointment tomorrow.

He made it very clear that he would go forward with IVF next month if we wanted, but that it was totally up to us if we wanted to try more. I am obviously going to go ahead with his otherwise natural progesterone cycle just because it is covered and it is nice to be doing something while we wait. I think I will just go ahead with the IVF by August at the latest, however, because it would be really difficult to do during the school year.

Finally, he was somewhat concerned that I had no CM even though this is CD16, but he is retesting that tomorrow. He was really annoyed, however, that I never had cultures done, progesterone tested or that DH had never been tested for antibodies at Penn. Aside from his strangely graphic jokes, it was a pretty pleasant experience and I'm moving ahead, fingers crossed! Thanks for reading
