Can an onset of lower back pain be a sign labor is near?

I wish... I started getting horrible back pain at about 38 weeks as well, and was totally convinced that labor was imminent. Still having back pain, and I still feel like it's imminent haha.

I hope so! Mine started today and lasted about 9 hours and then eased up some but I still feel very sore in my back.

I heard that a dull ache in the lower back is a sign.  I started getting this last night and had it all morning but it has since subsided.  I wish this kid would come out already! I am soooo ready!

I've had back pain for about a week now and nothing has come of it.

It depends, is it shooting down into yours legs and coming on like a wave? That's what back labor felt like to me.
