So DH and I decided to switch sitters for this upcoming september. Present sitter has just been too disorganized, forgetful, and the kicker was when she decided to take off a week and a half off with only a couple of weeks notice. Not to mention its my last week of school, which is the worst time for a teacher not to have a sitter for her kids.
So we found a new sitter on the recommendation of 5 teachers I work with. This woman is known as "the sitter" to have. She has a great setup inside and outside her house to play. She's super organized and has to be..she always watches 5 kids. She is great with the kids and seems to have good communication with the parents. Since our present sitter decided to take an unexpected vacation this week, new sitter agreed to watch LO 3 days this week. Well the first day he was great. But the last two days he's spent the entire morning crying. Im assuming it's because he's experiencing some sort of separation anxiety? Plus at the present sitter, theres only one or two other children with him, and one of them is an infant. At the new sitter, all the kids range from 1-2.5. I really like this new woman but it breaks my heart that he's crying. He just needs to get used to the new environment, no? Please tell me I'm doing the right thing by starting him there in September!
Re: Crying at new sitter?
First, you need to trust your gut, and if it's telling you you did the right thing by choosing a new sitter, then you did! It sucks to hear that your baby is crying, but please know that it will get better! I went back to work 2 weeks ago and Z apparently cried the first few days and was super clingy. I felt horrible but I know it's because she was with me for a whole year, and she will eventually get used to going to the sitter. Now, she's all over the place and will even let the sitter bathe her, finally LOL
Anyways, I hope things continue to get better each day, and before you know it, your LO will be a champ with the new sitter! GL!
