Switching Dr offices

Hi ladies, I need a little advice. So H and I were seeing a RE and when we got pregnant our RE referred us to an OB. We had our first appointment on Monday (I was 11 weeks) and we didn?t really feel comfortable with him so we have decided to switch OBs.

So here is my question I have an appointment on the 20th for my NT scan should I go to this, what until my current OB (the one we don?t like) to give me the results, then switch or should I just cancel that appointment and have my file sent to the new OB and set up a new NT scan? What would you ladies do?

Re: Switching Dr offices

  • Wait, you think you will need a new NT scan if you switch?  If you are hoping insurance will pay for that I'm sure they won't and if you are paying out of pocket save your money for something else!  Either wait to switch until you have the results or ask them to transfer your entire file to the new doctor.

No, she hasn't gone for her NT scan yet.  She's asking if she should go to the one she already has scheduled and wait until she gets the results back before switching OBs, or if she should switch now.

I would switch now.  Why spend more time with an OB you don't like than you have to?

Thanks, gosh I read that twice and still came away with the same conclusion!

Agreed, just switch now.  But make sure your new office can see you in time before you cancel with your old OB.

  • I would switch now like the other poster said why spend more time with the one you are not comfortable with. I'm switching to another ob-gyn as well, just have your files sent to your new doctor.

  • Thank you all so much and sorry sschwege it did word that a little funny.

So I called my RE and they had no problem sending my file over and the new office (I loved my RE they were always so great). Then I called the OB I had my first appointment with and they will not send my file to me or the office without a medical release form from my new office. I tried calling the new OB and they are close, I guess I?ll call them tomorrow. I think I will keep my NT scan appointment for now and cancel it after I have the medical file thing worked out.

    Thanks!!!

Do the NT scan, then switch. The NT scan needs to be done in a certain time frame, so if you cancel and then wait to get re-referred, you might be too late.

As long as you have the results, any OB can see them.
