If baby no2(+) is the same sex as baby no1 was are you redoing everything in the nursery? Or is your babys room decorated as a babys room and that is the bedding/fabric/decorations that all children of the same sex will use?
If we stayed in the same house, we were going to move DS out of the nursery (which was done in sheep, we were team green), and move new baby in. No changes whatsoever.
However, we're moving, so we'll reuse what we can, but most of the decor was wall stenciling, so it won't be the same.
We are redoing everything. When DS #1 was born I wanted to make sure he had a room he could grow into (it's sailboats/nautical). We're doing this as well with DS #2. We will re-use some stuff (a crib sheet, changing pad cover, etc.) but nothing with sailboats on it. He'll even get a different room, but that's because we decided who gets what room when we moved in and DS #2 gets the closer room to us for easier night feedings. If we had been in our old house we would have moved DS #1 into a new room.
I feel like I should just leave everything. We have a small room that we used as a baby room & will move our DD (14mo) into a bigger room that needs to be redone/furnished. So if we re-did the baby room we would be re-doing two rooms.
When I got pregnant with DS#2, we changed our office room into the new baby's room and DS#1 got a big boy update to his bedroom. Now with number three on the way, DS#2 will move in with DS#1 and the new baby will have the same nursery DS#2 had. We kept it pretty neutral because we knew we would have one more baby.
Even though this baby is a girl, we're reusing all the furniture, bedding and curtains. The room, which is yellow had a jungle animals theme, which we picked for its gender neutral appeal.
DD #2 is pretty much inheriting the exact same nursery as DD #1 (just in a different house). Neither will remember it and I see no point in redoing this and then redoing a big girl room in 2 years with DD #2.
We reused everything for our 2nd but that's most likely because DS was still in the nursery when DD was born. The room was gender neutral colors with a Winnie-the-Pooh theme. We could reuse the bedding and everything for No3 but we need a new crib (due to the old one being a drop side) and I'm tired of Pooh. DH is painting the nursery this weekend, I can't wait!
We are having another girl and I am tempted to have them share a room since we only have a 3 bedroom right now and love having an office/guest room. Either way the baby will sleep with us for 3-4 months so we will have time to decide if their sleeping habits would mesh well. If not we will do a new nursery and keep DD in her room which we've gradually changed into a big girl room.

This is what we did. We did buy a new crib only because we had a convertible crib for DD1 and moved it into her new big girl room and we bought DD2 the same one so they match. We did re-arrange the furnitur lay out, but we did not redo any decor or paint or anything. The same will be done with this baby #3.
Now both DD's are in the same room and the nursery is currently a "playroom" That will change and we will move one of the beds back into a crib in the nursery and get DD1 a new big girl bed. I will not paint or redecorate again either.

DS's nursery was gender-neutral (it's a safari theme, mostly yellows and greens). We're moving him into a new bedroom with a Mickey Mouse/space theme, and will reuse the nursery for DD when she arrives.

We're reusing everything. We were Team Green with DS and are again with LO. Everything is gender neutral. Plus we rent and cannot paint the room. Makes it easy.
This is my fourth baby and I have two boys and one girl who have all used the same nursery. We picked out gender neutral colors and bedding specifically for this reason, I didn't want to have to change things.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

We're just redoing DD #1's big girl room instead.
