Baby Names

SibSet

DH and I have always been against having all our children's names start with the same letter. However, last night when we were discussing name for DS will keep coming up with "B" names...just happens to be the names that we like - we aren't trying to find a "B" name. DD's name starts with a "B".

Just wanted your opinion - If the first 2 children have names that start with the same letter, should #3 also?

  • I don't think #3 would need an B name too. However, if I am not mistaken (by your siggy) your DH also has a B name. If #3 did get a B name you would be the only one without one - I don't know if you should take that into consideration - just an observation.

  • I think that the third one should also start with a "B" I only think it doesn't have to if you have say two girls with a B then have a boy he could have another letter..but if you had three girls they should all be "B" imo

  • IMO yes, if two childrens names start with the same letter all of the children's should; that way the one with a different letter doesn't feel left out. I also think it looks funny on Christmas cards and such when two childrens names start with the same letter and the third has a different letter.

That is something we have thought about. I just didn't know if it would be weird to have 2 B's and then something different.

  • I probably would have all three have "B" names then, but I certainly don't think you'd have to or that it would be weird if you didn't.  Just go with names you like :)  It's hard enough to agree on one name that you and your spouse both like (if you're anything like my husband and I, that is!)... if you both like a "B" name, go with it.  Next time around, you can just see what comes to you!

We have a very hard time agreeing on names. I like lots of names and DH only likes about a handful. We have always liked the name Brennan for a boy. We liked it before we even had DD. The problem is that we liked Anniston for a girl. We may not like that the next time around - assuming there is a next time.

  • Heck, start it with a Z if you like. It's up to you.

  • What are some of those B names that you like (in addition to Brennan)? Maybe we could make some suggestions. Heres a suggestion: my brother's name is Kenan (pronounced Kennan). Its an old Biblical name. I'd suggest  altering the spelling to Kennan though, bc everyone thinks its pronounced kee-nan.

I work with a guy whose last names is Kennan - I have never thought of it as a first name. I will share that with DH when he get home.

Brennan and Brentley are really the only two names that we both agree on. I like a lot of different names (Clayton and Grayson) but DH is a hard sell on most. We like names that are unique. I know they aren't for most of you on here.

I don't think the inital thing is such a big deal.  My brother and sister both have A names and my name starts with a T.  I never thought felt left out or anything.  DS's name starts with an A and we're considering an A name for DD, but I don't feel like any future children would have to have an A name as well.  Maybe it's just me.

I must say that I'm not a huge fan of both of them having the "Br" sound at the beginning and the "n" sound at the end though.  Brennan and Braylin are a little too close for me.

That is also something DH and I have thought too that the two names are a little to close. We had a hard time agreeing on a name for DD. We went to the hospital with a list of 4 names and named her after she was born. I have a feel the same will be true for this little guy. :)
