I am 39 weeks tomorrow, had a check up today, and everything seems normal. Baby has been head down the last few appointments I have had.
Sometimes the baby will move around, and that will trigger a BH contraction. When that happens, my bump often takes on an odd shape and stays hard for a few minutes (and is often uncomfortable, and I can't move until it goes away).
I just had one, and it got me thinking...what are all these "parts"? I often feel pushes / kicks in my upper right side, and assumed these are the feet. I also feel a lump on the lower left side, assuming that was his/her butt.
So then what is this large thing on the lower right side? Can't be the head (that's down), can't be the butt (I thought that was on the other side) and the feet are high in my ribs.
Any one else try to decipher, and struggle, with making out body parts at this stage. Call me paranoid, but its making me worry.
Re: Odd shaped bump?
You have to consider LO's shoulders, too. If you google "39 week fetus" you get a cut away view of what a baby looks like inside of you. I am 39 weeks, and I know his head is engaged, so the feeling I am getting under my right pelvic bone must be a shoulder. Then in the middle/left side is a hard bump that must be his back/tushy, and the occasional squirming I am getting up at the top is a foot since he can't extend his legs any more. Every once and a while I get a "flopping" sensation and the hard bump will be briefly on my right side, like he flopped over for a minute and then flopped back. I am having contractions, and if I lay on my back for one my belly looks like an almond joy bar, with this raised, oval shaped bump on top of my bump, if you can picture it.
Oh- and OP- I love the picture of your dog! What unusual markings!
