I have an email only working relationship with someone named British.  I've never heard this used as a name before.  Do you think it's male or female?

I just spoke to HER for the first time on the phone. I has always assumed it was male (she works in the trucking industry, so maybe that swayed my opinion as well), and when she answered the phone, "XYZ Trucking, this is British," I was so taken aback that I still asked to speak to British.

I would have guessed male too, and it totally reminded me of Turkish from the movie Snatch ;-)
