Pregnant after 35

Yikes!

I am in complete shock! I actually had a dream early this morning I was preggers so ran out to get a test and WHAMO! We have a daughter who is 15 in July and we kind of gave up trying awhile ago. Just reserved to the fact it was not going to happen. I turn 40 in December and I wonder if having a newborn after 40 will be more difficult?

Re: Yikes!

  • I know the feeling you are going through. My husband and I are both 41,  we have 3 kids between us, 24, 19 and 17. I have 2 grandchildren. We thought we were done but we were wrong. I am in my 25th week now and it is ruffer for me then the other 2 I had. I am sooooo tired all the time. But yet it is wonderful too. I was really scared for my first trimester. They tell you all these bad that could happen just because your older. My baby is growing just fine and looks perfect in the sonogram. I am still considered high risk because of my age but the nice thing aboout that is I get to see my baby on the 3D sonogram every month because they want to monotor his growth. Dont let them scare you. The odds are your baby will be fine and you can have a normal birth. Try to injoy being pregnant, it is harder at this age but worth it.

  • Congrats!!! I hear you loud and clear! Dh and I are both 43. We have a dd who will be 8 when our new blue bundle of joy shows up. I'm currently 20wks and we are having a healthy baby boy. What I love about my dr. is that he hasn't treated me any different than any other pregnant woman. Infact he asked if I was going to have anymore after this one!!! Er NO! : ) I'll take my one of each and feel very grateful that I got that. I'm way more tired with this pregnancy than my first but other than that everything else is great.

  • Thank you everyone. The news is exciting but at the same time I worry. Went in to the OBGYN yesterday and she started me on these lovely vitamins. I asked her about this age thing and she said now a days, women are waiting much longer. I go back in 2 more weeks. So we shall see.
