Originally I thought that I'd use our single until LO was born, then sell it and use the money for a double. Now I'm thinking this may not be a good idea. I have the Britax B Scene; it can be a frame to snap in a car seat, or snap in the actual seat for an older child. If I plan on selling it, I was going to be a little "nicer" to it so it'll be in good condition to sell.
Did you still use your single with 2? Mine will be ~15 months apart, and DH is leaving for 8 weeks when LO#2 is 3 months old. I do also have a carrier that I love.
Trying to work out the logistics, but don't want to end up with 5 strollers, thoughts?
Re: Did you keep your single stroller?
I kept one and sold one. I kept my Maclaren and sold my single BOB. I am so happy I kept the Mac because now at my kids ages there are many errands where DD walks and DS still needs to be strapped in a stroller.
We sold the BOB and bought a Duallie. We just simply didn't have room in our garage for two BOBs, a BJCS, a wagon, bikes, etc. I do miss my single BOB on mornings DD is at preschool and I want to run with DS- but I don't have any genuine regrets.

No more TTC for us. We are done, and at peace, as a family of 4.

We kept ours, but it has stayed up in storage since my 2nd has been born. I actually didn't even use a double all that often since I mostly wore baby in the carrier.
I do use a single stroller on occasion but I stuck to the umbrella stroller.
We never even got a double. I either wear the baby and the toddler goes in the stroller (or sometimes I don't bring the stroller and he walks), or the baby goes in the stroller and the toddler walks. Mine are a little further apart than yours though. But it's possible (depends on your kids) that you could end up with the following situation:
15months+newborn - 20months+5months ---- wear baby, toddler in stroller
20months+5months - 24months+9 months ---- need double because baby is too big to wear and toddler doesn't want to walk all the time
24months+9months - older ---- back to single stroller and toddler full time walking
In that case I'd keep the single, buy a cheap double and resell it after 4 months for almost what you paid on craigslist.

Absolutely keep at least one single stroller. Mine are 18 months apart. I use the double stroller alot, but DD is getting very independent and wants to walk by herself a lot now too, so we also use our single stroller all the time. We kept our regular single and also a little umbrella stroller that DH uses when he goes out with just DD. Double strollers are so big and heavy that its much nicer to use the single if the older child isnt going to ride. Eventually you won't be able to get your older one in the stroller at all and then it will be nice to go back to the single. We did sell our single jogger stroller before DS was born, b/c it was just too many strollers to have around.
Yes, I have a single stroller that I use just as often as my double. I use the double for places I know my toddler will want to be in the stroller, like theme parks, the mall, the zoo, anywhere we'll be walking a long distance.
I use the single for anywhere I know my toddler will not want to be in the stroller, like at the farm, the park, the aquarium, etc.
I got a double and lent my single to my sister. My sister is still borrowing it and I haven't used it since I've given it to her.
My kids are 14 months apart and DD didn't learn how to walk till 15 months, and wasn't able to do it comfortable out of the house until after that, so a double was a MUST.
Now, at 2.5 and 1.5 years old, DD walks 99% of the time but I still use my double because A. it has a spot that DD can go in if she gets tired or if I need to strap her in for whatever reason. And B. it holds my (humongous) diaper bag and my purse, with excess room for stuff if I'm shopping or whatever.
I **COULD** get along with my single, but I like that option of having a spot for DD, like if I was at a doc appt and needed her to stay in one spot.
ETA: I never really wore my kids. It wasn't comfortable for me, I didn't like having them constantly attached to me, and in the stroller DS took naps anyway (as a baby under 1 year anyway). To wear my kids feels more cumbersome. Some people feel like they are more "on the go" when they wear their babies. For me, it's the opposite; I feel like it's way more work to get everyone comfortable.
I have two 18 months apart and use the single almost daily for one of them between wearing the baby and toddler in stroller (most controlled method) or baby in stroller toddler walking, good for short trips or at the park, or baby sleeping in the stroller while we play in the yard.
I have a double and dh has used it but I haven't yet.
Thanks ladies,
I think I will keep my single and get a double. I like the idea of having all kinds of options between carriers and stollers. Thankfully I won't have to worry about a double jogger until LO is about 6 months b/c the wearther won't be nice until then.
