If you had swelling, how long did it last?

Granted I was very swollen for most of my pregnancy, but it reached epic proportions after the CS.  I literally couldn't walk, that's how huge my feet got.  I am 3 weeks PP now and it only let up just a tiny bit.  I know recovery is all patience, but this is getting old and frustrating because otherwise I feel pretty normal.

  • It lasted a few day, up to a week? I am sure it wasn't 3 whole weeks. Have you asked the doc?

It pretty much lasted until after I dropped all the pain medicines. So about 7-10 days PP. I'm sure I had a little after that but my swelling went down so significantly that I didn't notice if I was still slightly swollen.

  • My swelling lasted close to three weeks (2 days shy) and then it just completely disappeared overnight. Drink lots of water and do lots of walking. Good luck!

  • I am two weeks out and still swollen at my incision site. Otherwise all swelling was gone by the time I left the hospital. The nurses commented that my need to drink a ton of water helped me flush a lot of it out of my system. I also didn't swell to terrible during pregnancy so what I had to drop was minimal.
  • Mine finally went away at 2 weeks PP. At 3 weeks, I'd call your OB.

  • Just shy of 3 weeks and the swelling was horrific. It went away overnight. Def call your ob though and have your blood pressure checked.
  • Mine was so terrible that I was put on a water pill while I was still in the hospital. My swelling was gone at about 2 weeks. I would call the doc and see if they could call you in a prescription.

  • I had no swelling during my pregnancy but my legs/feet started swelling the day I went home from the hospital.  It got really bad but was gone around 2 weeks.

  • Not three weeks, that's for sure. I think it was at its worst around 4-5 days pp, and then was gone a few days later.

  • A few weeks. It got to be gradually l ess until one day I woke up, and my feet were normal again. I'll never forget waking up and realizing my carpal tunnel was gone, too. :)
