1st Trimester

odd, "layer of fat" question!

Okay, really I feel weird and embarrassed asking this... but i'm so curious!

So I'm overweight and have some fat on my stomach.  I'm just wondering if the squishiness will turn hard or will I still have a "squishy" belly over my baby bump when it comes in?  I know a true baby bump doesn't come in for a while, I just want to know if I will actually feel when it is baby versus my fat layer :)

Any ladies in the same boat with some experience?

  :)

  • Your belly will get hard, but you will notice a flab of fat hanging down at the bottom, underneath the bump.

  • I'd guess it probably depends a little from person to person.  Last time my belly did get hard and I didn't have any hanging fat or anything.  Now... post-partum.  That's a different story.  I totally have a "mother's apron" now.  It's not fun :(

It depends on how big you are and how your layers of fat are distributed.

I'm a bigger girl and by 7 months my entire belly was round and hard like it "should" be.

This exactly, and now I'm laughing/mortified at the "mother's apron" name for my post-baby pouch.

  • A flab of fat hanging down....sweet jeebus!  I just got the WORST mental picture of myself at 9 months with a HUGE belly with a fat "beard."  Crikey

Lets hope for baby bumps with no flab... lol

Bad mental image here too! I don't want a fat beard!

  • I've always had what I call a "pouch" and my bump for my son was awesome... no flab hanging down or anything.  After he was born, I lost the weight quickly, but the pouch stayed (as I expected.)

Now, I'm only 6 weeks pregnant, but look much further along as I am super bloated .  My "pouch" sort of resembles a misshapen bump lmao.  I'm a mess!

  • I am a bigger girl and I to have the "mothers apron" lol..but with both of my previous pregnancies but the time I was 6-7 months it was completely hardened and rounded out, no hanging skin lol...No worries it'll all get hard when your uterus is big enough

It's not a HUGE flap of fat...it was just like a small soft fatty area underneath my giant hard bump.

NTW, I also have a mother's apron now. I love that term for it!!
