Pinterest fail

I have had luck with everything I have cooked/baked from Pinterest. I had these awesome sweet potato pancakes when I was in KS so I found a recipe and made them this morning. They were awful. My H was too nice to say how bad they were and just ate the edges. They weren't sweet at all and just tasted like wheat, not sure what I did wrong!
