Don't think stripping my membranes worked :(

Went for my weekly check up yesterday and my OB stripped my membranes (ouch!).

Overnight I believe I lost my mucous plug along with some red blood in it. Besides just cramping and a contraction here and there I am thinking that it didn't work. sigh

I was 4cm yesterday (and as of last Sunday was 70% and -2) so I thought this for sure would get the ball rolling. Maybe I was being too optimistic. So now here I sit at work on a birthing ball bouncing and rocking my hips.

No point to this....just frustrated and want to meet this little lady. Oh...and I am sick of having false labor!

  • My OB is going to do that this Friday. How bad is it? Like 'bite down on this leather belt bad' or 'major period cramp bad'?

  • I just had mine done, and my OB said it has a 24-48 hour window of working, so I wouldn't give up yet!

And it was a combo of mild/moderate period cramping plus moderate/intense pressure for me.  Not unbareable, and hopefully it works!

  • I feel like we are in the same boat.

I COMPLETELY understand how you are feeling. I have my appt tomorrow morning and I'm hoping I've made progress more than what i was last week. I'm so exhausted and so tired and my body is psyching me out so much between the real contractions that start up and then stop and the all of the constant braxton hicks, and the vagina pains, and the can't sleeping, and the losing of the MP. and the brown spotting...And doing this for weeks!! No one prepares you for that. But I have to say I totally get it, and I'm also sitting on a birthing ball and I take periodic breaks to walk up and down a few flight of stairs.

But what I've learned no matter what I do I can't make my body deliver her until it's ready. So If in my mind I think I'm doing something, then great. I'm going to lie to myself for the sake of my own sanity. Fingers crossed for both of us that all this constant body fake outs end up with our LOs sooner rather than later.

Keep your chin up, I get it.

  • It wasn't too bad getting them stripped. I don't think it was painful, but A LOT of pressure. My OB gave me her hand she wasn't using so I could squeeze it.

  • it didnt hurt me much at all... maybe thats why it didnt work?!?!? LOL
  • I had mine done yesterday.. it was like hold your breath ouch bad for me... I've been cramping/pre-labor contracting since week 30... so when I got home from having it done I ate a whole pineapple and did alot of walking, and as I type I'm having really bad contractions, and am timing them at 3-4 mins apart.... Keep your fingers crossed!

  • I had mine done yesterday at 1130 and had cramping and contrax on and off since. Baby also moved down a bit. I hope this works, but if not I plan to get it done again.

It felt not great, but my doc did it for at least 15 seconds and says she waits til there is a protest to stop as it works better when its done for a little while. It burned a bit, and the worst part was that she stretched me a bit and that hurt.

  • I had mine done yesterday and have had some spotting, a little cramping and some contractions. But no real action, I'm guessing it might not have worked :(
  • i had my membranes stripped on the 8th, lost my mucous plug the 11th/12th, and these past two weeks, have not progressed from my lonely 1cm dilitation at all!  im still 100% effaced as well. blarg.  i have an u/s on wendesday this week and we will also be discussing induction then as well.  im so frustrated with no progress being made!  ive tried every "labor-inducing" method ive read about... but to no avail.  none of that stuff really works im convinced, but at least it made me feel good about it since i was trying to be pro-active about jump-starting my labor.  i guess he really wont come out until hes ready, or until the pitocin sets in!
