worried about puppy - NIFR

Our puppy will be 14 weeks tomorrow and developed diarrhea this evening that is now bloody and he's throwing up. DH took him to emergency vet and are waiting on tests for parvo. I'm out of town for work. I'm so worried. DH has been in tears all evening.

    I'm sorry about your puppy!  I know when our dog is sick it is devastating because she is part of the family.  Hopefully he just ate something that didn't agree with him and the vet can help out.  Good luck!

    4/28/11 IUI#1 = BFP!(5/25), EDD 2/2/12 - m/c 5w3d
    7/3, 7/31, 9/25 - IUI#2-4=BFN
    IVF#1 - 1 blast = BFP!! (12/30), EDD 9/9/12, confirmed c/p 4w2d
    FET#1 3/2/12 - 2 blasts =BFP!! EDD 11/18/12, us#1 = twins! Confirmed m/c 5w6d

    FET#5 2/18/16 - BFP!!!  Beta1-3, 126, 250, 745!!

    I really hope your puppy is okay!!! My lil Dexter had parvo when I got him as a pup only 8 weeks)?he is a little fighter and made it through. I remember the diarrhea smelling absolutely horrible and he was so hot and very lethargic. He wouldn't eat or drink anything. It was awful. I really hope your little guy is okay and that it is not Parvo.

    Did you get back your tests yet? I hope it is not parvo and just something simple.

    oh no!  I have had a puppy with Parvo before...couple days of Antibiotic IV's and she got better...  I hope he's ok!!

    DX: Me-PCOS, retroverted/ tilted ute - DH- MFI, DH-4 mo of Clomid therapy= no improvement. Weekly HCG injections.
    Me-34, DH-33
    HSG- unsuccessful, SHSG (dialated)-no blockages
    7/11-Clomid (unmonitored) BFN,
    #1 Fresh IVF 9/11: w/ ICSI & AH (only option): (1 transfered, 8BF) = BFN!!
    #2 FET: 2 transferred (2 6BF) 12/11 = BFFN!!
    Surprise + HPT on break! 2/12 Beta 1: 6 Beta 2: <5 = c/p ( RE had given me provera... So pretty sure this ruined everything)<BR> #3 Fresh IVF 3/12: w/ ICSI & AH (2 transfered 8BF & 7BF, 1 to freeze) = BFMFN!

    Poor baby! I hope it turns out to be nothing!

    We rescued a dog years ago and took her to the vet and they got her all fixed up and vaccinated and whatnot. But we kept bringing her back for bloody diarrhea, she didn't have a normal BM for months. And they couldn't figure it out. I'd just assumed that she'd already been tested and treated for worms seeing as they knew I'd literally picked her up off the street! Yeah...not so much! After months of dealing with this I finally just bought some de-wormer at our local feed store on a whim and she never had it again!

    I was livid with the vet. I wrote them an email letting them know how disappointed I was that we'd wasted so much money for so long and they had just "forgotten" to treat a stray dog for worms! I never went back. They'd been voted the best vet in town for about 10 years in a row. Yeah right!

    BFP #1: 12/2009 m/c 1/2010 BFP #2: 6/2010 m/c 8/2010

    BFP #3: 10/2011 ectopic 11/2011 (right tube removed, learned left tube was probably nonfunctional due to scar tissue from infection after m/c)

    3 failed IUIs, IVF #1: 18R, 12M, 10F, 3 poor quality 5d embryos transferred= BFP #4!!!!!

    Betas: 9dp5dt: 64 ~14dp5dt: 91 (expecting miscarriage, doubling time of 236 hours) ~16dp5dt: 200~18dp5dt: 500

    First Ultrasound at 6w2d revealed two sacs, only one with a heartbeat

    LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

    TTC#2: IVF booked for April 2015

    Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015

    Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270

    First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.

    JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

    TTC #3: Since October 2017. BFP #6 July 2, 2018 EDD: March 16, 2019 [/spoiler]

    I am so sorry about your puppy! I used to manage animal shelter and we had a few outbreaks of Parvo and Distemper while I was there. Its awful, but I have seen many puppies make it through both especially when caught early and treated well. I have also seen throwing up and bloody diahrrea for many reasons that are less threatening than parvo. I really do hope its nothing severe, but know even if it is parvo, it's still hopeful. I hope you get your answers soon and the puppy feels better fast! Big hugs!

    9/17/13 - BFP @ 5dp6dt! EDD 05/31/14
     9/29/13 - m/c @ 5w1d. :(

    11/19/13 - DEmbryo FET #3. Thawed and transferred one blast from each batch. Wow!
     11/23/13 - BFP @ 4dp6dt! EDD 8/7/13
    Beta #1 @ 13dp6dt - 522  Beta #2 @ 16dp6dt - 1373 
    6w5d ultrasound showed one perfect baby with a beautiful heartbeat of 134bpm!

    Thanks for the kind words everyone. The rapid bum swab test came back negative for parvo but the vet kept him overnight for IV fluids and antibiotics. They tried him on some solid food this morning and he did ok and we just got the call that he is ready to come home. Yay! Not sure what caused it but maybe DH will get more info when he goes to get him. It was such a stressful night and I hope he is only on the mend now. It is tough being out of town - I just want to be home to give him and DH a big hug and kiss.
